Susan L. Olson, age 69, of Prior Lake, MN passed away peacefully with family by her side on May 1, 2021 at Touching Lives Group Home in Prior Lake. Liturgy of the word will be held on Saturday, May 8, at 12:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake, MN with Fr. Tom Walker presiding. Service can be live-streamed at Susan L. Olson Funeral Service (Meeting ID: 923 0175 0733 / Passcode: 223150). Public visitation will be held prior to services from 10:30 AM to 11:50 AM.

Susan Lynn was born September 12, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to parents Rochie and Pauline (Marconi) Morin. One of five children, Susan enjoyed growing up in north Minneapolis. Part of close-knit neighborhood, she met her future husband, Douglas Olson, at a young age. It was truly love at first sight. Following high school, Susan and Doug were united in marriage on July 28, 1974 in Minneapolis. They were soon blessed with two children, Eric and Laura. Susan was a devoted wife, mother, and grandma throughout her life.

Together with her family, Susan enjoyed the outdoors—especially camping and fishing. Once the grandkids came along, Eric and Laura became second fiddle. She loved and supported her grandchildren in all of their numerous sports and activities.

Outside of the home, Susan worked for many years in Shipping & Receiving, making many lifelong friends along the way. In her free time, Susan participated in numerous bowling leagues. Often, she was joined by extended family members. She also enjoyed throwing darts and playing pool.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Touching Lives for the care and love they gave Susan in her later years after suffering from dementia for over ten years.

Outgoing, happy, caring, family-oriented, and always loving, Susan will be greatly missed by her children, Eric (Tera Josal) Olson and Laura (John Fitzgerald) Olson; grandchildren, Davonte, Trevon, Tia, and Damian Johnson, Madelynn Koch, Patrick and Morris Simmons, and Lucas, Leyla, and Johnny Fitzgerald; siblings, Roger (Linda) Morin, Janice Morin, and Dorine (John) Tapio; and many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Susan is joined in Heaven by her husband, Doug Olson; parents; and brother, Ronnie Morin.

Condolence from Lorri LuConic on May 2nd, 2021 6:53 pm

I loved Susan, it was an honor to care for her at Touching Lives Communities. I will always remember how she loved music, how I danced with her while she was in her wheelchair, and how much humor she had up to the late stages of her illness. But mostly I will remember how blessed I was to be told she loved me. Thank you all for sharing that beautiful woman with us at Touching Lives. We will miss her. Very much!

My auntie Sue was an amazing lady. I loved her laugh and her kisses on the cheek. She always told everyone she loved them. She truly loved her family, Especially her daughter Laura and son Eric and all of her grandbabies. She was happy all the time and enjoyed a beer and dancing or just camping sitting around the camp fire. When she had a little to much to drink she always would say I’m sorry and remind you she loved you. She was a wonderful auntie to me and I will miss her deeply. My heart hurts, but I know you are dancing and catching up with your parents and Doug . Auntie please say hi to everyone and Loopy. We will remember you for ever and we want you to know we love you so much. Rest in peace auntie Sue!! ♥️♥️

I met Sue in 1992, she was the person who hired me at my current job. She was hard working and fun loving. I have very fond memories of the time we did spend together. She was devoted to her two children and loved being a mom. I was sad to hear she had passed away but relieved to know she was at peace. I hope Eric and Laura know how much they were loved and that she knew they loved her too. Sharing her memories with each other will always keep her present in our hearts.

Sue held such a special place in our hearts!
She was so sweet and I have many memories of sitting by the fire talking with her. She Always expressed how proud she was of her kids and how much she loved the grandkids. She was a bright and shining soul. When Charlie would walk in he would yell out “where is my girl” and her face would just beam.

Our hearts are with you and your family.

The tide recedes, but leaves behind
bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth
still lingers on the land.
The music stops, yet echoes on
in sweet, soulful refrains.
For every joy that passes,
something beautiful remains
