Shirley Marie Johnson, age 94, formerly of South Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2019, at Oak Terrace Assisted Living, in Jordan, MN.
A time of gathering will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 starting at 10:00 AM, with closing words at 11:40 AM, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (833 S. Marschall Road) in Shakopee. Shirley’s grandchildren will be her pallbearers. Shirley will be laid to rest at Dassel Cemetery in Dassel, MN.
On November 17, 1924, Shirley was the first of three children born to William and Marie (Lunt) Gustafson, in Minneapolis, MN. She married her high school sweetheart, Roydon V. Johnson on February 16, 1946, after he returned from the war. They were blessed with four children, Virgil, Verne, Val and Vicki. After 36 years of marriage, Roydon passed in 1982.
In 2012, Shirley’s health declined, and Oak Terrace became her home. Shirley received great care and compassion from the staff.
Forever loved, Shirley will be missed by children, Virgil ( Mari) Johnson, Verne (Cindy) Johnson, Val (Yvonne) Johnson, Vicki (Jim) Melton; grandchildren, Greg, Alan, Marcus, Matthew, William, Robert, Benjamin, Daniel, Marie, Kimberly; great-grandchildren, Harper, Korra, Indigo, and soon baby boy, Colt; other family and friends.
There to welcome Shirley home in Heaven is her husband, Roydon; parents, William and Marie Gustafson; brothers, Roger Gustafson and Eugene (Shirley) Gustafson.
