In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ferguson Family Fund at any US Bank Branch or at www.gofundme.com/kelsey-and-baby-fergie.

On September 16, 1987, parents Paul and Pam (Blight) Ferguson welcomed their first child into the world, Scott Russell Ferguson. He was the proud, big brother to sisters, Randi and Megan. From a young age, Scott loved tinkering in the garage with his dad—they worked on cars and fixed bikes for the neighborhood children.

It wasn’t until the 10th grade that Scott discovered his talent for football. He quickly caught the attention of recruiters and was offered a scholarship to play at St. Cloud State University as an offensive lineman.

One of the most successful players in St. Cloud State’s football history, Scott helped the team set the record for single-season wins. With a career in football on the horizon, Scott was drafted by the Canadian Football League, but ultimately decided to pursue a career in sales.

Influenced by his father’s job at GM, Scott had an interest in cars and the personality to sell them. Once he moved to Minnesota, he began a career in sales at Luther Brookdale Honda. Most recently, he worked at Dealer Teamwork in Eden Prairie.

Scott and Kelsey met their senior year of college. What started as just a friendship soon blossomed into a relationship and they began dating. On March 26, 2016, after six years of dating and countless trips between the United States and Canada, the couple married in Minnesota. Scott, through his tears, exchanged the wedding vows he wrote to Kelsey.

Scott and Kelsey were an inseparable pair. Whether it was grocery shopping, going to the movies, or hosting friends, they did everything together. Scott loved golfing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and spending time with family and friends.

It wasn’t long before Scott and Kelsey decided to start a family. Always baby crazy, Scott looked forward to becoming a father. After some difficulty conceiving, Scott didn’t initially believe Kelsey when she announced her pregnancy. He soon told anyone and everyone who would listen about the upcoming birth of his son, Maxley.

Unfortunately, Scott became ill shortly before Maxley’s birth. Unknown to him or his family, Scott had a rare autoimmune disease, Wegener’s Vasculitis, which affects the blood vessels. In his final moments, Kelsey was at his bedside holding his hand and telling him how much he was loved.

Scott was a “teddy bear” of a man—he was friendly, caring, and outgoing. He is loved and missed by his wife, Kelsey; newborn son, Maxley; parents, Paul (Pam) Ferguson; sisters, Randi (Owen) Ferguson, Megan (Scott) Ferguson.; grandmother, Vicki Blight; mother-in-law, Terri (Brad) Shepherd; father-in-law, Don (Bobbi) Shepherd; sisters-in-law, Codi (Justin) Breeggemann, Casie Shepherd; nieces and nephew, Brooklyn and Wyatt Breeggemann and Lotus Bouthillette; other countless relatives and friends.

Condolence from BARB DOUGLAS on July 20th, 2018 8:30 pm

Kelsey,

My name is Barb Douglas. My husband also had Wegener’s Vasculitis. While our stories are not exactly the same, I know the pain in your heart and the questions that lie ahead. I saw Scott’s story on the 5:00pm news on my husband’s birthday, July 19. I cannot tell you the number of emotions I felt, but the thing that stands out most is the pain of your loss – I understand it. Take care of yourself and enjoy every moment with your little one. He will know Scott through you.

Scott was such a great guy! My daughter tried to call him today but no connection at all. We went to the dealership and learned of his passing. My daughter and I met Scott when she was looking at cars. We learned about him, his new wife, history of football and how caring, honest and kind he was in an hour or so. He was always there when we had questions says, months and years after until today.
We are so sorry for the loss anyone who knew Scott would feel and the timing of his death is heartbreaking. Prayers to all fir comfort and peace.
