A long-time resident of Jordan, Rosalia Caroline (Schlauderaff) Jabs, was 95, when she entered God’s arms, on Saturday early evening, July 26, 2014, at the Lutheran Home, in Belle Plaine, MN. The visitation will be on Thursday, July 31 from 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation, 104 West First Street, Jordan and also one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, August 1 at 11 am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 100 Sixth Street West, Jordan. Pastor Jeremy Glowicki will preside. Rosalia will be laid to rest at Spirit Hill Cemetery, Jordan, MN.

Rosalia was born to parents, Rudolph and Christina (Bohnsack) Schlauderaff. All through her life, Rosalia lived a simple life, enriched with a deep faith, a strong bond with family, and humble service to others. She attended schools in Lanesburg Township and Jordan, where Rosalia graduated from the eighth grade. Living on the family farm and being the oldest of four children, she stayed close to home and helped her parents tend to the daily chores of farming and family life

As a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Walther League (a youth group), Rosalia met the love of her life, Loren Jabs. Before God, they were united in marriage on November 15, 1945 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Jordan, MN. Rosalia and Loren spent the first several years of their marriage farming. After moving into Jordan, they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Carol Ann. Rosalia and Loren went into the business of farmland drainage, with partner Peter Schmitt. For many years, they were proud to operate the Scott County Tiling Company.

Rosalia spent her days, being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She spent countless hours tending to her flower gardens, nurturing the vegetable plot, and canning the fruits of her labor. Rosalia was especially proud of the award she won for having the “best backyard flower garden” in Jordan. Rosalia was an exceptional cook, enjoyed sewing and mending, and loved decorating her home, especially for the holidays. Rosalia also enjoyed fishing with her family in the waters of Lake Minnetonka and Fish Lake. Her granddaughter, Rachel, has many fond memories of helping “grandma” clean the fish, fry them up, and enjoy each other’s company, as they ate “the best fried fish in town”. A woman of strong and enduring faith, Rosalia enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being active at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Left to honor Rosalia’s life and mourn her death are her loving husband of 68 years, Loren; beloved daughter, Carol and husband, Alfred Schectman of Wilmette, IL; cherished granddaughter, Rachel Schectman; sister-in-law, Betha Schlauderaff of Red Wing; and other caring relatives and devoted friends.

Preceded in death and there to welcome Rosalia home in heaven are her parents, Rudolph and Christina Schlauderaff; brother, Clarence Schlauderaff; brother, Roy Schlauderaff and sister-in-law, Alice Schlauderaff; sister, Helen Mueller and brother-in-law Alvin Mueller.

Pall bearers for Rosalia will be David Schlauderaff, Paul Schlauderaff, Rodney Karnitz, James Karnitz, Mark Karnitz, Russ Jabs, James Rook, Ray Jabs, Lorraine Uecker, Eldrid Karnitz, Wilmay Karnitz and Lyla Karnitz.
