On the afternoon of Christmas Day, December 25, 2015, Robert Carl Sellin, age 89, was placed into God’s arms. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00am, with a gathering period from 10-11am, all at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. His grandchildren will serve as urn bearers.
Robert C. Sellin was born in Blue Island, IL to parents Edward and Hulda (Krause) Sellin on December 28, 1925. He was an only child.
He later met Wilma Wiegel, and after a period of courtship they were married on August 2, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dolton, IL. They were blessed with three daughters, Sandra, Candace and Cynthia.
Faith was always an important part of Robert’s life. It became the foundation of who he was. In his childhood, he attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Riverdale, IL. It was there, that he also attended parochial school through eighth grade, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 2nd, 1939.
He then attended Mount Olive Lutheran church in Rockford, IL for the next forty years. After he and Wilma moved to Minnesota, he attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Prior Lake.
Bob was most happy being around his family. His support for his immediate and extended family never wavered. As a family they spent a lot of time traveling together. Trips together included a Christmas cruise, a houseboat trip to the Canadian border, renting a home on Prior Lake and a 40th anniversary celebration at Disneyland. It was always a special trip for he and Wilma when they could take each of the nine grandchildren on their own International trip. It was a time when they could form a special bond with each one of the grandkids. He also took pride in supporting his family’s education.
Bob is survived by his wife of 68 years, Wilma Sellin; children, Sandra Mandell of PA, Candace (Richard) Petersen of OR, Cynthia (Bruce) Sellin-Viren of Prior Lake; nine grandchildren, Brian (Katie) Mandell, David (Allysa) Manell, Jennifer (Marty) Behm, Patrick O’Donnel, Ben (Veronica) Petersen, Mark Petersen, Jackie (Adam) Viren-Wilson, Laura (Grant) Viren-Elliott, Robert (Caity) Viren and 10 great grandchildren.
He is welcomed in to heaven by his parents, Edward and Hulda (Krause) Sellin; son-in-law Michael Mandell and great granddaughter, Emily Mandell.
Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation, Prior Lake Chapel, proudly served and cared for the Sellin family.

Wilma & girls-
My deepest sympathy, thoughts & prayers are of you at this time. Bob was my fearless leader for many years at Camcar. He was mainly responsible for building the finest supplier of fasteners in the world. He is in a better place. God bless you during the coming year.

It was with a heavy heart I learned of Bob’s passing away. I did not report directly to Bob while he and I were at Camcar, but attended many meetings with him. A great person and leader. I really enjoyed setting with him at the Camcar 20 Year Club Luncheons and solving the problems of the world. I know he is in Gods loving hands and will live in our hearts forever. Gold bless Paul

Camcar/Retiree Group
Prayers for the Sellin family. We missed Bob at the retiree group luncheons when he moved to MN. Loved hearing from him via email and always read them to the group. He was a great person and kind to all he came in contact with at Camcar or otherwise. One of the best presidents we had at Raycarl Division. He was loved by all. Again prayers and sympathies for the family. He will be greatly missed.

Wilma & family,
I was saddened by the news about Bob, he would always walk by the front desk at McKenna with a smile on his face and always had something worthwhile to say about his family and how much they all meant to him and all the things that were going on in Prior Lake. He was a great man and I will miss him a lot. My thoughts and prayers are Wilma and the family. (Cheri, the receptionist at McKenna)

Dear Wilma and Family
Bob and I became closer friends after I left Camcar. He absolutely was a great leader. Many of us called Bob “God” of course this was behind his back but he knew and laughed. Over the years when I had my company Bob advised me on business conditions, faith and integrity. Bob was part of my Mentorship Program and I am going to miss him and our talks. Bob was a great friend. Sincerely, Win Adams

We are saddened by the passing of Bob. He was a great leader for Camcar and he knew the fastener bussiness so well it was scary. He helped build a GREAT company during his presidency and he helped a lot of us to be good managers. We will mss his letters that he sent two or three times every year when he would think of times past at Camcar. He was always interested in our family and asked about each and everyone many times. We were lucky to have a friend and boss like Bob. We will miss him.

My deepest sympathy is sent to all of the Sellin family. Bob was a very wonderful boss and friend. I greatly enjoyed our get togethers as the president of the twenty year club. I respected him greatly. A better man wont be found anytime soon. I know his presence in heaven was a wonderful reunion with his family and friends and coworkers! God bless!

Wilma & family we are truly sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. We are so GRATEFUL that he had the dedication to the CamCar family that he did, and to his own family as well. SO many of his former co-workers had sent birthday cards honoring him for his 90th. Ours would have come by e-mail but learned of his passing before sending. Your entire family is in our thoughts & prayers, and know that the Good Lord will guide you thru this sad time. God Bless.
