Bob’s life story

Robert “Bob” Arthur Kangas

On November 25, 1948 in Deer River, Minnesota, Bob was born to parents Matthew and Beulah (Lyons) Kangas. Bob was born into his heritage on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation in Cass Lake, Minnesota and became a proud member of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe. He grew up with 2 brothers, Francis and Matthew and 4 sisters, Cheryl, Mary, Bernadine and Theresa.

Most of Bob’s career was spent owning and operating a commercial roofing business. He was blessed with 2 children, Lea Deanna and Dustin.

At the age of 64 and a resident of both Montgomery and Cass Lake, Minnesota, Bob passed away and entered God’s arms at Friendship Manor in Shakopee, Minnesota on Sunday, August 18, 2013.. He had just moved to Shakopee to be close to his daughter.

Deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved Bob, children, Lea Deanna (Eddie) Kangas and their son Gio Granados of Shakopee and Dustin Kangas and his daughter Gabriella Kangas of Montgomery; brothers and sisters, Francis (Eileen) Kangas, Cheryl Kangas, Mary (Darren) Briseno, Matthew Kangas, Bernadine (Virgil) Kangas and Theresa Kangas all of Cass Lake, Minnesota; mother in law, Lorraine Cemensky of Waterville, Minnesota and other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Beulah Kangas; an infant brother and sister; brother in law, Robert Hanson; and father in law, Donald Cemensky.

Honorary Urn Bearers will be Ken McGlauchlen, Pat McConnell and Bob’s nephews.

The visitation will be on Thursday August 22, 2013, from 5-7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 833 South Marschall Road in Shakopee, Minnesota followed by The Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 PM.

Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Bob’s memory by the family.
