Richard “Dick” Green, age 77, of Prior Lake, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at United Hospital Courage Kenny Rehabilitation, in St. Paul, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 24 at 11 am, with a time of gathering starting at 9:30 am, at St Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside. Urn bearers will be Dick’s grandchildren.

In Fergus Falls, MN, Richard Gustav was born on January 18, 1942, to parents Clarence and Laura (Falke) Green. Growing up in the small town of Waite Park, MN, he was the big brother to sisters, Sally, Patricia and Janet. Dick loved exploring the town with his buddies, at times with mischief lurking in the shadows. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1960.

In December of 1969, Dick’s life was enriched by meeting a young woman named, Charlotte Rae Bruder. On August 14, 1971 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, in Long Prairie, MN, they married. Dick and Charlotte focused their life on raising three children, Kelly, Eric and Joe. As a family, they enjoyed camping, annual summer vacation at the lake, and countless gatherings with relatives and friends.

Most of Dick’s career was spent working for St. Cloud Truck Sales as a truck parts salesman. In 2005, Dick and Charlotte moved to Prior Lake, MN and he took his knowledge and expertise to work part time at Carquest for over a decade.

Dick had many passions. As a young boy, he was quite athletic and involved in several sports. He carried that interest in weightlifting and exercise throughout his life along with his love for muscle cars, watching football, enjoying a great meal and socializing with friends and family. Examining historical events, folklore, shouting out the answers to Jeopardy and late nights playing cards were pure pleasure for Dick.

A strong and massive man, Dick was a gentle giant. His focus in life was being a loving and devoted husband, dad and grandpa. Dick’s greatest passion were his grandchildren. It didn’t matter what they were doing, the grandchildren lit up Dick’s world.

Forever loved, Dick will be forever missed by wife, Charlotte; children, Kelly (Nathan) Brytowski, Eric (Katherine) Green, Joe (Jodi) Green; grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Sophia, Gus, Kailey (Matt), Zach, Jacob; great-granddaughter, Carley; sisters, Sally (Wayne) Gottwalt, Patricia (Dave) Skelton; and many other relatives and friends.

There to greet Dick in eternal peace are his parents, Clarence and Laura and sister, Janet (Chuck) Kenning.

Charlotte, I just heard.

I am so sorry and thinking of you, your kids and grandchildren in this difficult time.
