Randy F. Worden, age 58 of Jordan, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 17, 2018, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2PM, with a time of gathering starting at 12noon, at Ballard- Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 104 West First Street, Jordan. On February 7, 1960 in Wadena, MN, Robert and Alice (Watkins) Worden, announced the birth of their son, Randy Fay Worden. He was the fourth of five children to grow up in Staples, MN. As a young boy, Randy grew fond of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with friends and relatives.

Following his graduation from Staples High School in 1978, Randy enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He was stationed in Puerto Rico and later Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Receiving his honorable discharge, Randy joined the reserves and moved home.

Returning home began a new chapter in Randy’s life. He reconnected with many friends—most importantly with Virginia “Jenny” Humphreys. Their friendship blossomed into love and the couple exchanged wedding vows March 16, 1985 in Hopkins, MN. Their marriage was blessed with two children. Over the years, the family lived in Hopkins, Chaska, and Shakopee before settling in Jordan.

Randy worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Over the years, he did building maintenance at Hopkins Health Care, Radermachers, and other facilities before ending his career at St. Jude Medical. In his free time, Randy enjoyed the simple things in life—spending time with friends and family! Many weekends in the early years were spent fishing, hunting, tubing down the river, and camping at Gull Lake and Lake Minnewashta. In recent years, spending time with his family and precious granddaughters was his favorite past time.

Randy will be forever loved and missed by his wife of 33 years, Jenny Worden; children, Allison (Tim) Bortness, Jon Worden; granddaughters, Aubrey Bortness, Autumn Bortness; siblings, Linda (Bryan) Knodel, Robert (Carol) Worden, Susan (Tim) Brawley; brother-in-law, Jerry Dukowitz; other relatives and friends.

There to welcome Randy home in Heaven is his father, Robert Worden; mother, Alice (Bert) Eskro, sister, Gail Dukowitz, and other beloved family members.

Sorry to hear of Randy’s passing! I had the honor of serving a year with him in Puerto Rico at the Coast Guard Marine safety office in San Juan when we were both 18 and 19!

He had a great sense of humor and I enjoyed driving and patrolling the harbor with him!
