Philip, age 59, died peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina, MN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30 – 10:45 AM at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. Pastor Rebecca Gamble will preside and military honors will be provided by the Prior Lake Honor Guard. Phil will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Phil was born in Rice Lake, WI on October 1, 1958. He grew up in Winter, WI until he was 9. His family then relocated to Arizona and New Mexico, where he graduated from Grants, New Mexico High School in 1976. Philip served his country in the US Army from 1978-1989. He was a parachutist, expert marksman, combat medic, and a member of the elite Special Forces “Green Berets”. His final assignment was in Germany. He was discharged honorably after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the end of the Cold War. After 10+ years of military service, Phil earned a BS of Electrical Engineering in 1995 from Montana State University. Phil has been employed as an Electrical Engineer with 3M Corporation for the past 23 years until his death. Phil was also an avid reader, and enjoyed a good debate over current affairs. He loved gardening, hunting, and being outdoors.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Bradley Hall in 2015.
Phil is survived by his wife of 22 years, Debra Krisak, and sons, Stephen and Ryan, of Savage, MN. His mother, Geraldine Hall, of Deer Park, WA, and five siblings, James Hall, of Trinidad, CO; Susan (Joseph) Marincel of Flower Mound, TX; Theresa (Andrew) McHarney of Albuquerque, NM: Timothy (Regan) Hall of Centennial, CO; and Jonathan (Carmen) Hall of Hood River, OR. Phil is survived by Aunts, Uncles, 16 nieces & nephews, and 6 cousins.
Phil is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Roger & Kathy Krisak, Superior, WI; brothers and-sisters-in-law, Jodi & Dave Anderson of Superior, WI; and Roger & Kris Krisak of Jordan, MN.

It is with sadness and fond memories that I think of my cousin Phil. He was a man of kind wisdom and a great sense of humor. Although we only saw eachother once in a while, I always looked forward to the visits we shared. Phil, you will be missed.
I was so sad to hear of Phil’s passing last weekend. I have worked in the same building at 3M with Phil for many years. I was always amazed at how inquisitive Phil was about science and engineering, and also about life in general. We had such interesting conversations from time to time.; and at the end of them I usually ended up walking away thinking “Hmmmm, I never thought about ( . . . ) that way before.! Phil’s presence will be missed here at 3M.

Phil was always a good friend and an excellent fishing buddy. I always found his ideas interesting and in many ways his own thoughts formed a number of my own about life and the world and how to get by in it. Our weekly lunches and yearly fishing outings were filled with good times, jokes, and thoughtful conversation. I only wish I had more time to learn more from him…and to go fishing some more with him. I hope you will be able to find peace and comfort, family is great for that.

Fond memories of my cousin….the miles were many between us but we were the same age and the good times that we did spend together are just as vivid as yesterday.
Family…your Aunt Rosemary is too fragile to travel anywhere and my schedule doesn’t allow it. But we are with you in spirit….wish we could be there.

I will cherish the memories of our lunches where we updated each other on our families, solved many of the world’s problems, and discussed many science and technology topics such as anti-gravity machines, black holes, global warming, sun spots, etc.

My deepest sympathy to the Hall family. For years, Phil was a great work friend and we collaborated on some common 3M projects we had going. I have vivid memories of our lunches where we often solved the world’s problems such as economic inequalities, using the ocean to grow nutrient rich seaweed to feed a growing world population, the gravity engine to propel humans through space and my favorite was retiring in a foreign country were we could live like kings on just social security income. I realize now how lucky we were to have had Phil as our resident engineer all these years.
I met Phil at MSU and we immediately formed a great friendship. We spent many hours together in school, before he moved to Minnesota and started his work at 3M. I had great respect for his intellect, wisdom, and willingness to think outside the box. He was my best man in my wedding and he traveled to California, just for that. Debbie, before I got your letter today, I thought about him while driving and wished to call him. Then I got the news in my mail. I will cherish my dear friend’s memories for ever. This is so sudden and unexpected. I regret not calling.

So sad and sorry to hear the passing of Phil. I worked in the same building at 3M with Phil since 1999. He was very intelligent, loved to talk, and had great ideas to improve processes to make our jobs safer and more efficient. My family farm is in Spring Valley, WI and we make Maple syrup every Spring. Phil always bought my maple syrup and was so interested in how it was made.
He will be missed by his co-workers.
