Pete’s life story

Peter “Pete” J. Patchin

On March 13, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN, Pete was born to parents George and Florence (Jackson) Patchin. He was the youngest of two boys. Following his years of growing up in Edina, Pete then attended “K” State (Kansas State University), where he was a member of the Lamba Chi Alpha Fraternity. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree.

Following his schooling, he was immediately drafted into the Army. Shortly after his return from the military, he met Gwen Klingberg and his life was about to change. After less than a year of courtship, they were married on November 14, 1959 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. They were blessed with three children, Brad, Stephanie and Burke.

After a short stay in the state of Delaware they moved to Prior Lake, where they have always considered this their “home”.

Pete joined his father in the commercial and industrial real estate appraisal business, and received his MAI designation. He started his own appraisal company, Peter J. Patchin and Associates Inc. in 1978. He retired at the age of 65.

He and Gwen spent 20 years of winters in Fort Myers Beach, where they spent a lot of time walking the beach, enjoying the sun and water. Pete also had a love for watching the Vikings, fishing, golfing and traveling and most of all his grandchildren and great grandson.

He was a member of the Prior Lake City Council, Prior Lake Jaycees, American Institute of Appraisals, GTO Car Club and always active in his church.

Known as a faithful, gentle and kind man, Pete died peacefully, with his family by his side on September 25, 2013 at the age of 79.

Deeply missed and remembered always by his wife, Gwen Patchin; children, Brad Patchin of Apple Valley, Stephanie (David) Bergeron of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Katie (Ben), Ryan (Whitney), Jana (Cole), John (Sarah), Chandler, Chad, Madi, Gabby, Arie; great grandson, Harper and other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Pete is preceded in death by his son, Burke Patchin; parents, George and Florence (Jackson) Patchin; brother, Joe Patchin.

My name is LeRoy Bosko .Pete and I were roommates in West Stadium at Kansas State University, later joining Lambda Chi Alpha. Pete was President and I was House Manager . Mother May was our house mother, followed by Mother Estes.Pete was totally involved with academic and fraternity activities. I was in architecture and Pete was in milling tech. We worked together on several first place homecoming floats, and Pete introduced the innovative ‘CHARIOT RACES ‘ to the Greek system and the University. We visited Pete and Gwen in the early 60s when working on Minuteman Missiles installation in Cheyenne, Wyoming. We had lots of fun together and I am sorry we can not visit in Florida as we go often.i wanted his children to know of his early college years. Fondly, LeRoy and Joanna Bosko in Hoover,Alabama. 2-23-2018
