Patricia “Pat” M. Jones passed away February 9, 2021 just a couple weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. A private family prayer service will be held in her honor on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 10:30 AM. Father Rodger Bauman will preside, and Pat will be laid to rest at Lakewood Cemetery.

On February 26, 1928, Patricia Mae Rick was born to parents Fred and Margaret (Schrom) Rick. Pat was the oldest of two children. She loved growing up in Waseca with her little brother, Tom, and being watched over by her much older step-sister, when her mother remarried to Michael McLin. Pat attended Sacred Heart School from elementary all the way through high school.

After graduation, Pat moved to the cities all by herself and enrolled in nursing school. Pat was always a brave and ambitious woman. During this time in her life, she lived at a boarding house with other young women, who became some of her dearest friends. These gals were truly lifelong friends, who supported and encouraged each other all throughout their lives. After Pat completed her nursing studies, she began working as a nurse in a dermatologist office, where she spent her entire career.

Along the way, Pat met the love of her life, Lee Jones. Pat and Lee were married on October 25th, 1947. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage and were blessed with two adopted and chosen children, their son, Tim (who died when he was just 23) and a loving daughter, MaryPat. As a family, they enjoyed traveling together. They loved their annual summer trips to a wonderful cabin on Island Lake. They also took several trips out east to visit extended family in Maryland and Washington D.C., making adventures out of it. Lee’s work with the Star Tribune also took the entire family on fun adventures to places like Colorado, with the paper boys and girls.

In her free time, Pat enjoyed shopping, reading the newspaper and cooking. She was also continually active, participating in bowling and golf leagues over the years. Pat enjoyed expanding her social and educational horizons as a member of a women’s club where speakers would teach them about a variety of interesting topics. As a couple, Pat and Lee loved going out for dinner and dancing at the Minnesota Valley Country Club, where they were longtime members, as well as socializing with their “gang” of life-long friends.

In the many wonderful years Pat and Lee spent together, some of their best times were spent traveling the world together. Over the years they went to Acapulco, London, Germany, Hong Kong, and countless other destinations. Pat always loved how Lee would find fun little adventures for them along the way; like the time they stood outside the hospital where Princess Diana had just given birth to Prince Harry, hoping to catch a glimpse of the new prince. No matter where they were, Pat was happy to be on an adventure with her soul mate. After retirement, they loved to spend a couple of months during the winter soaking in the sun, sea and flowers in Bradenton, Florida.

Pat and Lee were blessed with two wonderful granddaughters. Pat loved them dearly. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she loved spending it with her family. Pat also had a wonderful “extended family” at her condo complex at Dewey Hill in Edina and at Kingsley Shores, where they loved her and called her Miss America, because she was always so classy and put together.

After Lee passed away and Pat’s health began to fade, she moved to Highview Hills in
Lakeville. This past year was hard for Pat, but she always remained positive. She loved when her daughter would visit and sing some of her favorite hymns. MaryPat was singing to her mom as she went home to Heaven.

Pat is survived by her daughter, MaryPat (Ken) Potts; granddaughters, Briana (Rob) Halstead and Michaela (Brian) Feser; great grandchildren, Boston, Owen and Skylar Halstead and Emerson Feser; nephew, Michael (Ginger) Rick; niece, Margo (Rob) Beall; other loving relatives and dear friends.

She was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Lee; son, Tim; parents, Fred & Margaret Rick; brother Tom Rick; sister, Rosella Rick.
