WEB Pastor Bob

Rev. Robert “Bob” Henry Krueger, age 76 of Jordan, MN entered eternal life on Saturday, November 13, 2021. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 4-7:30 PM and on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 9:30-11:00 AM with a funeral service at 11 AM, all at Immanuel Lutheran of Fish Lake, 20200 Fairlawn Avenue, Prior Lake. Reverend Dr. Brent Parrish will preside.

Pallbearers are Jack Krueger, Joseph Krueger, Cameron Krueger, Hudson Krueger, Timothy Krueger, Luke Krueger, and Anna Krueger. Pastor Bob will be laid to rest at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

On April 17, 1945 in Minneapolis, MN, parents Herman and Helma (Elling) Krueger celebrated the birth of their first son, Robert Henry Krueger. Along with his two younger brothers, Robert was raised on the family farm outside Jordan, MN. In his youth, he enjoyed participating in 4-H and attended school in Prior Lake and at Immanuel Lutheran Christian Day School.

Knowing the benefits of a Christian education, Robert furthered his studies at Concordia Academy and junior college at Concordia College in St. Paul. He later attended Concordia Senior College in Fort Wayne, IN.

After a vicarage in Junction City, KS, and completing training at Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, IL, Pastor Bob was ordained at Immanuel Lutheran of Fish Lake in 1971. He served communities in Kakabeka Falls, Ontario, Fairhaven, MN, Kimball, MN, and for 30 years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on the east side of St. Paul, MN.

In 1966, Bob met Linda Pieper while she was waiting tables at a wedding. They were married December 27, 1968 at Immanuel Lutheran of Fish Lake and were blessed with 46 years together until Linda’s passing in 2015. Bob was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed when the grandchildren would join him in the garden. In his free time, Pastor Bob enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and giving hayrides.

Pastor Bob loved his Lord, his family, his congregations, and his gardens. He truly had a servant’s heart. Pastor Bob worked tirelessly to share the Gospel and support Christian education at East St. Paul Lutheran, Concordia Academy in Roseville and Concordia University in St. Paul. His favorite parts of ministry were giving children’s sermons and visiting the shut-ins. He would faithfully offer the elderly the Lord’s Supper, prayer, and bounty from the garden. In retirement, he went back to his home congregation of Immanuel Lutheran of Fish Lake to serve as a visitation pastor. Pastor Bob cherished visiting the shut-ins who were influential in his life as a child.

Robert’s life was enriched when he was introduced to Katherine Klemp. They were married on May 18, 2019 at Concordia University chapel.

A thoughtful and generous man, Pastor Bob is remembered by his sons, Dr. Rob (Rachel) Krueger and their children, Jack, Anna, and Abby, Scott (Danielle) Krueger and their children, Jazmine, Joseph, and Davina, Jon (Michelle) Krueger and their children, Cameron and Hudson; brothers, Paul (Rose) Krueger and Mark (Ginger) Krueger; wife, Katherine Klemp Krueger; 8 stepchildren and their spouses, 27 step-grandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren; many other loving relatives and friends.

Bob is reunited in Heaven with his wife, Linda (Pieper) Krueger; parents, Herman and Helma; brother, Verlie.

The family of Pastor Bob extends their deepest appreciation to Allina Hospice and Pat & Amanda Schultz for their loving care.

Memorials can be directed to Concordia University-St. Paul, Concordia Academy, or your local congregation.

Condolence from Gary Bach on November 16th, 2021 1:35 pm

Dear Rob, Scott, and Jon,
I first met your family when you were just boys, while serving my DCE internship at Fairhaven/Kimball. Your dad was my pastor supervisor for only about 45 days before departing to serve at Bethlehem. In that time he taught me very much. Most noteworthy, to treat each person the same as another. Bob truly had the Pauline spirit of “becoming all things to all people” that they might be drawn to Jesus. That is why he was so comfortable in serving others whether in a rural or urban congregation. Each time our paths crossed over the years, your dad was always the same Christ-like servant leader I remembered. He is a ministry mentor I will always remember and I thank God for knowing him. God’s peace, comfort, and every blessing to your family.

Dear family of Pastor Bob,
Truly a blessing in our lives in so many ways! Karen and I will always cherish our summer vicarage at Fairhaven and Kimball. Your Dad and Mom were both such great mentors to us that summer between my first and second year at the Sem. Your Dad had such a passion for children’s messages…and for providing pastoral care to the members of his congregation. Truly a great role model for me…I am so thankful for all he taught me in those 3 short months. And to play cards with Linda and Bob was such great fellowship! They lovingly took us both under wing and gave us so much. Our prayer for you is that joy and peace of heaven which is now his in Christ is your source of comfort and thanksgiving.

We extend our sincere sympathy to the whole family. We feel so fortunate that our paths crossed with Pastor Bob & Linda. They both were so friendly and caring. We also enjoyed the picnics they hosted on the farm for people they wintered with at Edens. It was good to see Pastor & Katherine this past winter at Edens even though we couldn’t do much because of health issues & hurricane damage. Our hearts will be with you all during his funeral service & in the days to come. May God bless & comfort you all.

Pastor Bob was always there for me when I was in my truly dark days. I will never forget him. I think he and my grandma Grefe are the reason I found peace in the Lord and light in my life when I came out of that darkness. He will always be in my thoughts and prayer. Thank you Pastor Bob for everything.

Pastor Bob was such a big part of my life. He confirmed me, married me, baptized both of my daughters. He comforted my family when my dad died and when my grandparents died. His presence was enough to console and lift those who were grieving, so I can only imagine the grief you all are experiencing right now. However, I rejoice in his new life in Heaven! He has seen the face of God; how awesome is that!

I came across this verse from John 17.4 and thought of Pastor Bob immediately: “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.” Truly, he has accomplished the work he was given.

I will be praying for you all.

Condolence from John David Wende on November 17th, 2021 9:23 am

Pastor Bob was truly the pastor described in Scripture. His heart was given to the Lord so that he would convey to others the love of God through Christ Jesus.
One of the Scriptures passages read at most Ordination and/or installations is from St. Paul’s letter to his friend Timothy. Pastor Bob lived out that standard throughout his ministry.

“This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires as good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentile, not quarrelsome, not covetous, one who rules his down house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover, he must have a good testimony among those whio are outside , lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. ” — 1 Timothy 3:1-7 NKJV

It was an absolute privilege to know Bob Krueger. He was one of those individuals who can be called a “joy-carrier,” and there were always many smiles and much laughter whenever I would run into him. This was also true for countless others, for he has many, many friends. Of course, I always deeply appreciated his tireless advocacy for CSP. “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enjoy your new home and we’ll see you soon!”

There are so many great things to say about Pastor Bob that I won’t leave everyone with a list however I can be sure the consensus among all of his church family would be to thank him for being loving, caring, absolute in his beliefs and his duty to share the word and love he found within its arms with the world. My sincerest condolences to the family for your loss. He will truly be missed and left a loving mark on all who knew and worshipped with him.

Robert “Bob” was a first cousin of mine on my Father’s side; whenever/wherever we encountered each other, right up to the point where his health was failing him, he always said, “Hi kid.” My hope, as was Bob’s, is that I’ll hear him say that again someday, because our hope is in the Promise that he and I both had the privilege of following and proclaiming, eternal life thriugh Jesus the Christ. You have run the race, cousin…

Dear Krueger family,
Pastor Bob was our pastor at Concordia Fairhaven and St. John’s Kimball when we were kids. It was great to reconnect with he and Linda when they retired to Prior Lake. We would see them at the K.C. hall in Shakopee during lent. We enjoyed that our children had the chance to meet them both.
