Susan H. (Vierling) Scully

Susan H. (Vierling) Scully, age 70, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 10, 2025. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM with Visitation from 9:30 - 10:45 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Ave SE, Prior Lake, MN. Susan will be laid to rest at Shakopee Catholic Cemetery.

Susan Helen was born on February 6, 1955, to Leo and Helen (Buchtel) Vierling in Shakopee, MN, the first of five children. Susan grew up on a small family farm in Prior Lake that was established in 1864. She was proud of the family farm and had a great respect for where her family heritage started. She graduated from Prior Lake Senior High School in 1973 during and soon after she met and married Terry Scully. Later, ending in divorce, she had two amazing children Anthony (Tony) and Pollyanna. In 1979 she met William (Bill) Meier III whom she dated until his death in March 2002. In 2003 she met Gary Breise whom she dated until her death on December 10th.

Susan had various jobs from working as a housekeeper for Hilton Hotels, working at McDonalds and Burger King to being a cook at New Horizon Daycares. She did what she could to help and take care of her children.

Susan’s children were her whole world, and she devoted herself to their activities, whether it was to Tennis matches, Basketball and Baseball games she was their biggest cheerleader. She continued being the same cheerleader for her grandchildren from attending band and orchestra concerts, soccer games, lacrosse games, hockey games to helping sell girl scouts cookies. Her grandchildren could always count on grandma being in the stands.

Susan had a very special talent for being crafty. Her happy place was when she was working on an Afghan for someone. She would feel as if there was an accomplishment seeing the look on their faces when they open their gift from her. She was involved in many activities to St. Michael’s Prayer Shawl to Burnsville Knitters. She also had interested in painting and building puzzles when she was not making an Afghan for someone she loved. She loved to read. She was a part of two book clubs one of which was St. Michael’s Book Club. She carried on her love for reading to her children and her grandchildren that for Christmas presents she would get them books and/or series of books.

Susie was friendly, she was so friendly that when she saw people she loved to give hugs. She will now live in the hearts of her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Tony (Mandy) Scully, Pollyanna (Michael) Patterson; grandchildren, Rachel, Thomas, Kaitlynn, Tiffany and Emily; mother, Helen Vierling; siblings, Lucy Cunningham and Michael (Becky) Vierling; and many other loving relatives and family.

She will be reunited in heaven with her father, Leo Vierling; brother, Eddie Vierling and infant brother.
