Stanley Howard Affolter

Stanley passed away peacefully at his home on July 10, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Recreation Center at Jordan Middle School on August 29, 2026 from 12-3 p.m. 500 Sunset Drive, Suite 2, Jordan, Minnesota, 55352. He will be interred with military honors, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fort Snelling Cemetery Columbrian Memorial Wall on September 24, 2026.

Stanley (Uncle Stan) Affolter, beloved brother, uncle, great uncle, great, great uncle and friend, was born on December 3, 1952 in New Prague, Minnesota, to Howard and Helen (Clark) Affolter.

Stan was raised on the family farm near Lydia, Minnesota, along with five of his six siblings. He attended grade school at Lydia Elementary School and then Jordan High School. He enlisted in the Army in 1971 and served in Vietnam. After he was honorably discharged, Stan moved back to Jordan, and then to New Prague, first at North Circle Drive, and then to Liberty Park, where he lived for 9 years.

Stan worked on farms near Jordan, in area manufacturing plants and for small businesses, in assorted jobs. He managed a gas station on Highway 169, and before retiring, in a maintenance capacity for a nephew’s convenience store and gas station.

Stan loved to fish with friends on the Minnesota River, and local lakes, and with friends and family on many lakes throughout Minnesota. He loved ‘going up north’ to various resorts with family and friends throughout his life. He loved being out in nature, enjoyed watching animals of all kinds, and most of all he loved his family, especially, he loved his nieces and nephews and watching them be kids and growing up. Stan was a proud uncle, and would be the first to tell others what one of them was up to, because he was often the one they called first with any news.

Stan is survived by his oldest brother, Connelly Medeger, Sister Diane (Affolter) Olson, sister-in-law, Trudy Affolter, brother Kevin (Sherry) Affolter, and sister Susan (Affolter) Hamre and brother-in-law Alex Dean. Also, many ‘favorite’ nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, a great, great nephew, his good friends from high school days, and his neighbors and friends at Liberty Park. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Howard and Helen (Affolter) Peterson, niece, Amy Affolter, sister, Mary (Affolter) McQuiston, brother-in-law James McQuiston, Sister-in-law, Laura Medeger, brother-in-law, Michael Olson, brother, Dave (Shorty) Affolter, and good friends, James (Junior) McCollum and Patrick (Pugsley) Sames.

Stan’s family is grateful for all of those who offered support and caring for Stan and his family as his health deteriorated. Thank you.
