Scott Bloom

Scott Milton Bloom, 58, of Prior Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, surrounded by his wife and two children.

Scott Milton Bloom was born to parents Milton & Jeanne (Brucciani) Bloom on February 8, 1968. Scott was the oldest of two children and loved growing up in the Eagan area alongside his younger sister, Lynn. From early family camping trips to life on the water, Scott loved the outdoors.

Hockey was a defining passion in Scott's life. He played for Burnsville High School, helping lead the team to back-to-back state championships. He was named Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year in 1986. Scott went on to play four seasons for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, while studying child psychology, helping the team reach the NCAA championship game his junior year. He was drafted by the Calgary Flames in 1986.

Scott built a successful career in apparel sales, where his natural drive made him exceptional. He later earned his real estate license as well.

While living in the Nokomis area, Scott met Jody through a mutual friend. They married in Hawaii in 2004 and started their family, living in New Prague before settling down in Prior Lake. Family life centered around outdoor fun, especially at their Grand Rapids cabin. Countless memories were made fishing off the dock, jet-skiing, tubing, water skiing, pontoon rides, and hanging out at the sandbars.

Scott gave back to the sport he loved as head coach and board member for the Prior Lake Area Hockey Association. His life centered around hockey, and he always stayed connected to friends and colleagues he made on the ice over the years. Scott passed on his love of hockey to Ella and Jake. He enjoyed coaching their teams and taking them to see the MN Wild every chance they got – always eating at Cossetta's before the game!

His competitive spirit extended to golf leagues, hunting and fishing trips with friends, achieving his black belt, and trap shooting as a member of the Minnesota Horse & Hunt Club.

Scott seemed to know everyone and had friends wherever he went. Scott leaves behind a legacy, devotion to his family, and a wide circle of lifelong friends who will miss him deeply.

Scott now lives on in the hearts of his wife, Jody Bloom; children, Ella Bloom & Jake Bloom; parents, Milton & Jeanne; sister, Lynn Bloom; other loving relatives and many dear friends.

Scott's family will honor him with a Private Family Service. A public Celebration of Life will be held at a later date – service information will be added as soon as it is available.
