Rosemary (Monnens) Engel

Rosemary Engel, 75, of Spring Lake, MN passed away on October 3, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Ballard Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St SE Prior Lake, MN. Rosemary will be laid to rest on October 25, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, 5437 160th St SE, Prior Lake, MN. All are welcome to attend.

Rosemary Engel was born in New Prague and spent her entire life in the Spring Lake area. She attended school in Prior Lake, where she met many lifelong friends. Rosemary and her sister were like night and day, but always close.

Don & Rosie began their real connection at a local dance hall. They were married at St. Michael’s Church in 1969 and made their home in Spring Lake.

After graduating high school, Rosie started working in the mailroom at Northwestern Airlines. Through hard work and dedication, she worked her way up to become a Ticket Agent, where she spent the rest of her career.

Rosie had many hobbies and a competitive spirit. She loved golf, fishing, and playing softball. Life on the lake was one of her greatest joys. She spent countless hours boating and enjoying time outdoors. A fond memory from her youth was when she and other neighborhood kids had to pick up cigarette butts just so they could swim at Craig’s Resort.

Family and Friends meant everything to her. Holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving were always spent together, filled with food, laughter, and love. She enjoyed playing cards — especially 7 Up, 7 Down — with her parents and children.

Rosemary will be remembered for her golf game, love for the lake, and the lasting memories she created with everyone around her.

Rosie is survived by her husband Donald Engel; daughters Kelly Engel, Brenda (Mark) Aitchison; grandchildren, Kelsee, Amber (Cory), and Camren Nogosek, Dylan Scott, Tyler, Trevor and Trent Aitchison; great-grandchild Alaina; sister Diane (Ken) Jeurissen; and many other loving relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Elfreda Monnens.
