Roger Joseph Kohn, age 79, of Shakopee, Minnesota, peacefully passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026, surrounded by his family.
A Christian Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11 AM, with a time of gathering from 9-10:45 AM, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Fish Lake, 20200 Fairlawn Avenue, Prior Lake, MN. Pastor Marc Engelhardt will preside. Roger will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, at a later date.
Roger was born on March 8, 1946, in New Prague, Minnesota, to the late Walter and Regina (Barten) Kohn. He graduated from Jordan High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force as an Air Cargo Specialist during the Vietnam War where Roger had a pet monkey named Susie. Following his honorable service, Roger returned to Minnesota, where he worked as a welder. Roger later married and was blessed with two daughters.
Never one to worry much about what others thought; Roger was a jack of all trades and master of none and perfectly content that way. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, VFW meat raffles, and puttering around. Roger would drive an hour for a good beef commercial or to deliver football boards, never thinking twice about the miles. Later in life, he enjoyed cowboy shows and never missed a game of bingo.
Roger is survived by daughters, Tracy (Derek) Burns, Shelly (Bill) Garner; grandchildren, Logan Burns, Isaac Burns, Olivia Garner, Grayson Garner; former wife and friend, Judy Trom; sisters, Andrina, Kathy, Sandy; and many family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Duane.
