Matthew Timmons

Matthew Spencer Timmons, lovingly known as Matt, passed away on June 1, 2026, in Mitchell, South Dakota, at the age of 32.

Matt was born on June 12, 1993, in Shakopee, Minnesota, to Mickey and Norma Timmons. He grew up in Carver, Minnesota, where his intelligence, creativity, and larger-than-life personality quickly became evident. A gifted student and performer, Matt graduated as Salutatorian of Jordan High School, became a state speech champion, appeared in numerous theatrical productions, and sang in church choir. He later attended Gustavus Adolphus College, where he continued his love of performance through improv and the Gustavus Choir.

Matt had a rare gift for making people feel seen. Whether speaking with someone he had known for years or someone he had just met, he gave them his full attention and genuine interest. He formed friendships across generations and walks of life, equally at home talking with a young child or an elderly neighbor. To know Matt was to know someone who loved people deeply and without reservation.

Theater, art, travel, and conversation brought him joy, but people were always at the center of his life. Matt found joy in gathering with family and friends, listening to their stories, sharing laughter, and building meaningful connections. He approached life with an open heart and an infectious enthusiasm that drew others to him.

Faith was an important part of Matt's life. He grew up in Hope Lutheran Church, where he developed a foundation that stayed with him throughout his life.

Matt is survived by his loving parents, Mickey and Norma Timmons; his partner, Nick; his sister, Julia Puckett, and her husband, Max Puckett; and his beloved nephew and nieces, Monroe, Lorelei, and Maisie Puckett, whom he adored. He also leaves behind many dear family members and friends who became family over the years.

Those who knew Matt will miss his smile, his laugh, and the joy he brought into a room. More than anything, they will miss the way he loved people. He had a remarkable ability to see the good in others and to make them feel valued exactly as they were.

The family hopes that those who remember Matt will carry forward the example he set: see the best in others and cherish the relationships that make life meaningful.

A wake will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 104 First Street West, Jordan, Minnesota. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course, 21775 Ridges Drive, Jordan, Minnesota, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m.  The service will be livestreamed at the following link: Matthew Timmons Service.

Matt's life was a gift to all who knew him. As his dear friend Sam Panzer shared, “His heart, his laugh, and the generous way he invited us all to become more ourselves will be with us forever.”
