Mary Jane Theresa (O’ Brien) Casey passed peacefully into God’s loving arms surrounded by those who loved her on June 18, 2026.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am Thursday, June 25, 2026 with visitation 9:30 - 10:45am all at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Ave SE, Prior Lake, MN. Mary Jane O’Brien was born the oldest of 5 children on January 3,1941 in St. Paul, MN to Joseph and Violet O’Brien. She grew up alongside her younger siblings, Kathleen, Terrance, John, and Kevin in St. Paul where she attended Cathedral Grade School and St. Joseph’s Academy for 4 years. Following graduation, Mary Jane “MJ" joined the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1959, where she remained in her religious community for 10 years and left before taking her final vows. MJ earned her LPN degree from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, downtown St. Paul. Mary Jane moved to Fargo, ND where she worked at St. John’s Hospital.

She returned to the Twin Cities and met her soul mate and the love of her life, Donald Joseph Casey. The two married in 1976 and adopted their only child, Brian, at the age of 4. The Casey family settled down to build their life in Prior Lake, MN.

Mary Jane continued serving others in the nursing field, working in public health and hospice. She was employed by Metropolitan Medical Center, Fairview Southdale Hospital in endoscopy, and retired from Colon and Rectal Surgeons in 1990. Mary Jane shared her love for outer beauty and skin care with others as a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for over 20 years. She loved meeting new people and sharing her love and knowledge of the products with them.

Mary Jane’s love for God came first in her life, followed by the love she shared for her family and her dear friends. Mary Jane was a devout Catholic and attended St. Michael’s Catholic Church regularly. She was ever so thankful for all of the blessings in her life and took nothing for granted. She lived her life as God asked her to and worked as a servant to him. Mary Jane was a generous, gentle, kind, and loving person. She will be missed deeply and loved forever.

Mary Jane is survived by her son, Brian Casey of Chaska, MN; grandson, Bentley Casey; brother Kevin (Paulette) O’Brien of Afton, MN; sisters-in-law, Ann O’Brien and Ramona Casey; and many nieces and nephews, and dear friends and relatives.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband Donald; parents, Joseph and Violet O’Brien; sister, Kathleen; and brothers, Terrance and John O’Brien.

A special thank you for all of the love and support Mary Jane received at the Benedictine Community in Shakopee, to the staff and residents (friends) at Norbella in Prior Lake, as well and all of Mary Jane’s faithful friends and family for staying in touch with their visits, calls, and cards.
