Mary C Clabaugh

Mary Cecelia Clabaugh (75), formerly of Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on September 30, 2026 in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Born in Algona, Iowa, Mary lived most of her adult life in Nebraska, where she raised her family, built a career, and cultivated lifelong friendships. In her final year and a half, she moved to Minnesota.

Mary possessed a remarkable creative spirit and an extraordinary eye for color and design. She was talented in countless artistic mediums and found joy in sewing, knitting, paper crafting, baking, cooking, decorating, and creating beautiful handmade gifts. Whatever Mary set her mind to, she pursued with care, precision, and attention to detail. Early in her career, she shared her creativity through professional gift wrapping and wreath making before later becoming an executive interviewer with the Gallup Organization.

A lifelong learner and passionate cook, Mary completed a culinary certification course at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. She delighted in bringing people together through food, creativity, and heartfelt hospitality. Her home was often filled with beautiful projects, and delicious treats she shared with family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Gail Zender; and her brother, Tom Zender.

She will be missed by her daughters, Jenifer Williams, Kara (Travis) Peterson, and Lauren Platt; her grandchildren, Karlin Workman, Clare (Lee) Williams, Kate Williams, Caid Peterson, Brynn Peterson, and Aden Platt; her great-grandchildren, Raegan, Karter, Charlie, and Violet; her sisters, Gretchen (Mark) Waldeland, Paula (Chris) Sak, and Barbara (Dan) Srb; as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the caregivers and staff of Suite Living Senior Care and Suite Living Hospice Care in Prior Lake for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during Mary's final months.

No public services are planned.

Mary saw beauty and possibility in everything around her, and her colorful spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.
