Marlene Helen Lindemeier

Marlene Helen Lindemeier, 88, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025. Her warm and loving spirit left a lasting impression on those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all those who were blessed to have spent time with her.

Marlene was born on October 19, 1936, at her home in Faxon Township, Minnesota to Ernest and Helen Ohm. She grew up on the family farm near Belle Plaine and attended Belle Plaine High School, graduating in 1954. Marlene married Ralph Lindemeier on October 23, 1954, and together they had two daughters, Kim and Pam.

Early in her career, Marlene worked as a cosmetologist in Minneapolis. She later went on to co-own Lindemeier Trucking and worked as the firm’s administrative manager. Thirty years after Marlene graduated from high school, she proudly earned a BS in Accounting from Minnesota State University Mankato. She was the Business Manager and Accountant for the Church of St. Peter for 25 years before retiring in 2008.

In her early adult life, Marlene was active in bowling and golf leagues. She was also passionate about sewing and was a sewing leader for the Norseland 4-H Club. Both vegetable and flower gardening brought her much joy throughout her life, and she was exceptionally proud of the flowers on her porch every summer.

Marlene also enjoyed volunteer work. She was on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter for four years and was chair of the Stewardship Committee for five years. In addition, she wrote articles on Stewardship while acting as Business Manager and served on several church committees in St. Peter and Mankato.

Having been a cosmetologist, she always took pride in her appearance, which included her signature bright lipstick and manicured nails. She also loved a good shopping day in the Cities with all the girls in the family. That passion has lived on with her daughters and granddaughter! Outside of the girly stuff, she was a MN Sports fan and could carry on a good conversation with the men in the family about the MN Twins and Vikings.

Marlene was an excellent cook and especially loved baking – she never passed up a sweet treat! After her retirement, she wrote a cookbook titled My Favorite Recipes that her family and friends cherish.

Marlene's final two years were spent at Savage Senior Living where the staff and residents made her feel at home. She always enjoyed sharing meals with her tablemates and the many social activities... especially BINGO! During this time, her positivity shined through despite physical and health limitations.

Throughout her life the two things most important to Marlene were her strong faith and love for family. Her genuine warmth, enthusiastic greeting, and the way she lit up around friends and family will be what we all miss the most about her.
