Marilyn Joyce Anderson, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones on June 2, 2026. 

A visitation will take place 2-5pm on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St. SE., Prior Lake. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am Monday, June 8, 2026, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 119 8th Ave W, Shakopee, MN, with a visitation beginning at 10am. Pastor Jonathan Rundman from Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church will officiate. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson, MN.

Marilyn Joyce Wakefield was born July 20,1943 in Albert Lea, MN to Merle and Ardis (née Ayers) Wakefield of Hartland, MN

She was baptized and confirmed at First Congregational Church of New Richland. Marilyn graduated from New Richland High School in 1961, Mankato State College (now Minnesota State University Mankato) in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. She married David R. Anderson of Hutchinson, MN on December 17, 1966, at First Congregational Church in New Richland.

Marilyn began her working career teaching at Glencoe High School in Glencoe, MN from 1966 to 1969. She then worked at Jonathan Development Corporation, Sears, Our Own Hardware Co. and Penton Media, before retiring in 2008.

Marilyn will be forever missed by her sons; Bruce (Sara) Andersen and Brent (Becky) Anderson; grandchildren; Emily, Cody, Brady, Matthew, Meghan and Molly; her siblings Elizabeth Knudson and Frank Wakefield; sisters-in-law; Shelley Wakefield and Sharon Wakefield; brother-in-law, Doug (Laurie) Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

She is be preceded in death by her husband, David Anderson; parents, Merle and Ardis Wakefield; brothers, Clyde Wakefield, Wayne Wakefield and Keith Wakefield; brother-in-law Kernel Knudson, sister-in-law's Evelyn Wakefield and Shirley Wakefield; mother and father-in-law, Fred and Inez Andersen.

The family extends a special thank you to Marilyn's niece, Amy, for her exceptional care and devotion, which allowed Marilyn to remain in the comfort of her own home until the end.
