Lynn Tran

Lynn "Mai" Tran, 58, of Savage passed away on August 15, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held for Lynn on Thursday, August 21 from 4-6pm at Ballard Sunder Funeral Homes in Prior Lake, 4565 Pleasant St.

Lynn was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1967. She lived with her grandpa and his family while growing up. As a child, Lynn would watch her grandma cook, which is where she learned to enjoy cooking for others. Lynn met her husband, Dinh, while they were both teenagers. She graduated high school in Saigon.

Lynn came to America in 1989 with her young son, Duy. Her husband was able to join her later, with his brother and mom. They all lived in Washington state, traveling between Spokane and Seattle. Lynn worked various jobs, most notably, Keytronics, while in Washington state. The family enjoyed going on road trips to Cour de L'aine, Idaho and Vancouver, Canada.

Job opportunities prompted the family to move to Minnesota in 2003. While in Minnesota, Lynn worked for Det Tronics. She worked in manufacturing of safety electronics for over 10 years. Her daughter, Vy, was born in 2005. The family enjoyed road tripping to Texas every year to see family and going to the North Shore.

While Lynn suffered from chronic illness the last 10 years, she never lost her passion for cooking, especially if it was for others' to enjoy. This love of cooking didn't stop Lynn from enjoying going out to eat with all her friends and family. Lynn also always had a green thumb and enjoyed maintaining flowers and plants all her life. Lynn greatly enjoyed finding a community at the Buddhist temple after her beloved husband passed away in 2019. She enjoyed being able to volunteer in the kitchen during meals. To the very end, her children were her greatest joys.

Lynn is survived by her son, Duy (Chelsea) Tran and her daughter, Vy, both of Savage.
