Lorraine was born at home on February 12, 1930, in Madawaska, Maine. She was the daughter of Ernest and Laura Ouellette, the first of seven children they had together. The family was of French-Canadian ancestry, and she was proud of her heritage. She graduated from Madawaska High School where she focused on commercial and secretarial courses. She held various jobs before marrying in Caribou, Madawaska, and Auburn, Maine.
After marriage, she resided briefly in Chicago and subsequently moved to North Dakota, residing in Verona, Moorhead, and Wahpeton. The family then moved to Austin, Minnesota in the mid-1960’s where she resided until moving to Savage in late 2024. She occasionally held various jobs during her life.
Lorraine’s hobbies included gardening, bridge, counted cross-stitch, bird-watching, music, and enjoying the great outdoors. She travelled with family extensively though the United States. She never reached her goal of all 50 states being short just a handful. She loved to tend to her flowers each year and was proud of the color they brought to her yard. She resided in her home until the age of 90 until health issues slowed her down. Until then she could be seen mowing, shoveling, walking to the store, and being very active. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Austin.
Lorraine was a devoted mother to her four children and supported them in all their efforts. Forever missed by children, Vernon E. “Bill” (Cindy) Lippert, Philip A. (Diane) Lippert, Gary M. Lippert, Susan E. (Jeff) Edstrom; 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her 3 youngest brothers, all of Maine.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, 2 brothers, 6 half-sisters, her former husband, H. Philip Lippert, and daughter-in-law, Nancy.
