Leroy "Roy" Olsen

Leroy "Roy" Olsen, age, 85, of Prior Lake, MN, entered God's arms on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He passed at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington, MN.

A memorial service will be held for Roy on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 12 pm, with a gathering from 10-11:45 am, all at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16150 Arcadia Avenue, Prior Lake, MN. Pastor Leigh Brown will preside.

Roy was born and raised in Albert Lea, MN on March 23, 1940, to Alfred and Mabel. He enjoyed doing the things kids do, playing outside, going to the movies, playing basketball and football, and so much more. Eventually, Roy began working in the grocery business, where he learned his trade as a meatcutter, and was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers union for over 50 years.

While working in Albert Lea, Roy met Jan, who was working as a hairdresser, and the two married April 23, 1966. The two eventually found their way to Prior Lake, MN. Jan opened a hair salon at their home, and they adopted Travis.

Roy enjoyed traveling, and the family took many vacations by plane, train, bus, and ship. He also enjoyed camping and had a travel trailer they took to many places, with Lake Carlos State Park in Alexandria, MN being an annual favorite. Roy loved to play golf. Sometimes, he kept his clubs in his car and would play after work at Dwan Golf Course in Bloomington. They enjoyed many activities as a family, going to basketball games at the high school, picnics around Lake Harriet, bike riding around Lake Nokomis, being out on the lakes fishing, going out to dinner and movies, and just enjoying life

Roy will forever remain in the hearts of his wife, Janet Olsen; daughter, Cindy Guerra; son, Travis (Natasha) Olsen; grandchildren, Jennifer, Dante, Jack, McKenzy, Josh, Noah; great grandchildren, Autumn, Nick; brother, Robert (Sharon) Olsen; sister-in-law, Karen Olsen; other relatives and friends.

Greeting Roy home in Heaven is his grandson, Ryan Meislahn; parents, Alfred and Mabel Olsen; and brother, Roger Olsen.
