Lee B. Nelson

Lee B. Nelson

Age 73, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Lee is survived by his wife of 45 years Kathryn (Kathy), daughter Rochelle (James) Wodarz, grandson Nelson Wodarz, who was named after him, and mother, Agnes Cushing.

Lee grew up in Richfield Minnesota, graduated from Valparaiso University in 1973 and received his law degree from William Mitchell Law School.

After receiving his law degree Lee worked as an attorney and appeals director at the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance program for 45 years. One of his favorite parts was writing legislation and working with the legislature.

Lee’s greatest joy was time and travel with his loving wife Kathy, especially to Florida. As well as spending time with his grandson following his daily activities and numerous sporting events (more than you can even count).

His secondary joy was spending time with his friends of many years whether training for or running a marathon or climbing many 14,000 ft mountain peaks, including telling and listening to many exaggerated stories of those endeavors.

Lee was an active member of House of Hope Church. Serving as a deacon, elder and volunteer for Loaves and Fishes, National Night Out, amongst others.

Lee’s enthusiasm for life will be very deeply missed by his family and friends, but he will always be remembered.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 26th at 2:30 pm at House of Hope Presbyterian Church located at 797 Summit Ave, St Paul, MN 55105 (hohchurch.org). Happy Hour in celebration of Lee immediately following at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to Loaves and Fishes, an organization that was near and dear to Lee’s heart.https://www.loavesandfishesmn.org/ways-to-give/
