Kevin Michael Vandenberg

Kevin Michael Vandenberg of Prior Lake, MN, died unexpectedly on November 16, 2025 at the age of 56. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM with Visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St SE, Prior Lake, MN.

Born in Duluth MN, Kevin graduated from East High School in 1987. He grew up playing hockey and baseball and worked at Mount Royal grocery store for many years. Kevin had a lifelong love for the outdoors, spending time with family and friends snowmobiling, skiing, boating, going on camping trips and spending time at the family cabin in Wisconsin. Kevin started his career with Otis-Magie-Gustafson Insurance Agency in Duluth working in the claims department. After leaving Duluth, Kevin moved to St. Louis Park, MN, then later to Prior Lake, MN and worked for Harleysville Insurance (later acquired by Nationwide). While at Harleysville he received a number of performance awards and advanced to a senior property claims adjuster. He developed a love for mountain biking and competed 16 times in the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival in Cable Wisconsin. Autumn (the dog) being his biggest fan! Kevin's favorite place to visit in the winter was the Florida Keys and he looked forward to going every year. Kevin will be remembered for his kind hearted and laid back demeanor. He had many funny expressions and one-liners made with perfect delivery, making everyone around him smile and laugh. Our hearts will remain broken, but you dear Kevin are at peace. You are restored to health and vitality, surrounded in love by those who went before you - so “giddy up U.B"! We love you always.

Kevin is survived by loving parents, Mike and Jeri Vandenberg; sister Vicki Knapp; and nephews, Thomas and Jonny, along with many extended family and friends. Preceded in death by grandparents, Gerrit and Sylvia Vandenberg, Louis and Carol Clausen; uncles, Joel, Gerrit (Merdita), and Douglas Vandenberg; aunt, Hazel Vandenberg; cousins, Gerrit, Dean, and Craig Vandenberg; and brother-in-law Bill Knapp.
