Julie Lynn Segler

Julie Lynn Segler, age 54, of Shakopee, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 17, 2026.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 1-3 pm, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee, with committal service at 3:30 pm at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Prior Lake, MN.

Julie was born on November 23, 1971 in St. Paul, MN. She grew up in rural Jordan on the farm with her brother, Greg, and parents, Harlan and Carol. At a young age, Julie loved her cats, riding around the property on the mini-bike, and singing for all to hear. She enjoyed hanging out, being social, and playing with the neighbor kids and her friends growing up. Julie attended Jordan High School and was a standout basketball player as well.

Following her High School graduation, she became a loving mother to her son, Travis. Julie loved to spoil him and they traveled together to places like Universal, Disney, and Mexico with other family and friends. She went out of her way to make him happy, bringing back special treats and trinkets from work trips. Julie was the life of the party, and loved to play games like scrabble, flume, cribbage, Yahtzee, and euchre with her friends and family.

Julie had a special connection with serving the elderly over the years as well. She was fascinated by their stories and knowledge and ended up volunteering at St. Gertrude’s as a music therapist, singing and playing her guitar for the residents. Later in her life, she returned to the farm to help Greg maintain the homestead. She had a great eye for detail, and spruced things up nicely, pulling and trimming weeds.

A true spit-fire, Julie will be greatly missed by her son, Travis Jeurissen; brother, Greg Segler (Monica Hron); sister, Dawn Schaefer; other relatives and loving friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Carol Segler; sister-in-law, Deb Segler; and niece, Mickenzy Segler.
