Father Tom Walker will preside. Joe will be laid to rest at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Prior Lake.
Joseph was born on January, 27th, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN to Edward and Mary Jane (Hache) Kasid. Joe grew up in Northeast Minneapolis along with his younger sister Mary Jo. As a kid, he was involved in youth sports with his friends, often coached by Gene Palm. He graduated from Edison High School in 1968 where he was an avid athlete, participating in football, basketball and track and field. He was also involved in the Spanish Club.
After high school, he went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University in northern Minnesota. While attending college, Joe was on the Track and Field team for the Beavers and was also involved in a fraternity at BSU.
Once Joe completed his degree, he started working as a teacher, first in Minneapolis and then in La Crescent, MN. During his tenure at La Crescent Schools, Joe met Judy Ganrude. They were married on July 3rd, 1976. Shortly after their wedding, Joe and Judy moved up to the Twin Cities where they settled and started their family.
After teaching, Joe went on to a highly successful career in Pharmaceutical Sales, beginning at Boehringer Ingelheim and later for Serono and Genentech.
One of Joe’s favorite activities was golfing. He played numerous golf courses throughout his life, most notably Lake Nona, Hazeltine National, Isleworth, Pebble Beach and Torrey Pines, to name a few. He even scored a hole in one at Lake Nona during the years he and Judy were members there. In addition to golfing, Joe loved to travel. Some of his favorite spots included Florida, California, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe and Australia. He loved the sun and soaking in the rays! Joe was also a big fan of many sports teams, including the Yankees, Gophers, Timberwolves and Miami Dolphins. Joe loved playing cards with family and friends to pass the time. He enjoyed 500, Pinnacle and Bridge.
Joe, known as “Bubba” to his grandkids, was beloved to his family and a dear friend to many. He was a stranger to no one, always running into people he knew. He was not one to gossip and always told it to you straight, with no pretense. He loved a good wisecrack and enjoying a laugh with friends and family. He will be missed dearly but the memories we shared will remain with us always.
Joe is survived by wife, Judy Kasid; children, Beth (Matthew) Wakefield, Brian (April) Kasid, Brad (Tamara) Kasid; grandchildren, Max, Anna and Sam Wakefeild, Elijah and Olivia Kasid, and Kaidence, Joey and MaKenna Kasid; siblings, Mary Jo (Lon) Olson; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Ganrude and other loving family members and friends.
He is preceded by parents, Ed Kasid and Mary Jane Kasid McManus; granddaughter, Kylie Kasid and father-in-law, Mervin Ganrude.
