Joe was the was the third child of three born to Ethel (nèe Dixon) and Samuel Clemons, whom both preceded him in death. Joe graduated from Boston Technical High School and attended the University of Massachusetts – Boston as an English Major. Having studied Latin and French in secondary school, he was a passionate linguist. Outside of literature, Joe loved to work with his hands - he would create skateboards from pieces of wood and metal skates, go carts from wood and wheels off shopping carts, kites, and other phenomenal engineering feats. He was a great athlete in baseball, pool, ping-pong, and basketball. But he was best known for his passion for the game of Chess as he always carried his chess set with him for a spontaneous match. Although he was Karen and Melvin’s little brother, he was the big brother to his core friends on Walk Hill Street.

Joe decided to change career focus and left UMass to join JobCorps. This started his journey to Minnesota. There, he worked at Northwest Airlines for over 25 years. He took on many roles with this company - from plane deicer and cleaner to his final job in ticketing. He was well loved and respected by his colleagues and customers.

While in Minnesota, he became the proud parent of Kevin and Joseah as well as father in love to Lanisha. Lanisha named her baby son after Joe, which was such a proud moment for him. He loved his children very much.

Joe joined the Minnesota Marine Reserves in 1986. He was also called to active duty during Desert Storm but was not called up to deploy out of the country.

Joe loved tinkering with cars and trucks, and fishing was his other passion. He enjoyed his fishing outings with the Tranquil Living House as well as fishing along the Mississippi River. And boy, Joe could cook on the grill.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord in Savior in 2015. He then was baptized at Valleyview Baptist Church in 2017 and became an active member of the church through his earthly departure. Joe loved the Lord and loved sharing the Word of God to everybody that he met. He loved learning about the Lord in the Bible. He had an infectious smile and a hearty belly laugh.

Those Joe leaves to cherish his memories include his big sister Karen and big brother Sam “Melvin”; his son, Kevin Clemons and daughter, Joseah (Jacob) Deisch (nèe Clemons); his daughter in love, Lanisha (nèe Scott) Randolph; his grandchildren, Ezra and Alexavier Deisch. Joe will also be missed by his grandchildren in love, his JP cousins and aunts, and a host of family members and friends - too numerous to name but individually loved.

A Celebration of Joe's life in Christ will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 11 am, with a visitation from 10-10:45 am, all at Valley View Baptist Church, 1980 Tenth Avenue West, Shakopee, MN.
