John R. Nelson

John R. Nelson, age 93, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2026 at the Minneapolis Veteran's Home.

A Celebration of John's Life with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM with Visitation from 10:00 - 10:50 AM on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake). John will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Survived by children, Jack (Phung) Nelson of Carver, MN; Brenda (Steve) Olson of Chanhassen, MN; Troy (Marchell) Nelson of Sacramento, CA; Dan (Maureen) Nelson of Lakeville, MN; daughter-in-law Connie Nelson of Longmont, CO; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his wife, Nita Nelson; son Jay Nelson; parents Andrew and Louise Nelson, and brothers and sisters.
