Janet Mikkelson

Janet Mikkelson, 88, of New Prague, MN passed away on October 16, 2025.

She will be laid to rest on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Spring Lake Cemetery, 16851 Lime Rd SW, Prior Lake, MN. Rev. Chris Cleveland will preside.

Janet Mikkelson was one of four children, and the first daughter, born on February 13, 1937 to Robert & Olga Anderson. She graduated from Orono High School. She graduated from St. Paul Bible College with a degree in Christian education.

Janet married David Mikkelson on June 13, 1958. Their union produced 5 children, all of whom currently live in MN. She was a taxi driver par excellence while her kids were growing up. The sports “bug” never left her; she continued to enjoy sports all her days. She also enjoyed accompanying her kids on their many fishing trips.

Janet was a godly, quiet, loving, patient, kind woman. She abundantly loved her children (& their spouses)! She was blessed to meet all of her 10 grandchildren & 12 great-grandchildren - what a heritage!

She and her classmates lunched together quarterly! She made it to last year’s meetings, 69 years after high school!

Many days, she could be seen crocheting or crafting gifts for her family. Every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild received at least a lovingly hand-made blanket. She loved listening to Christian music and worshipping her Saviour. An avid gardener, Janet had a large vegetable garden and many flowerpots and gardens.

We are grateful that with her life on earth completed, she has entered the presence of her beloved Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.

She will be missed by her children, Kevin (Karen) Mikkelson, Greg (Jody) Mikkelson, Keith Mikkelson, Sheryl (Troy) Roemer, Michelle (Gary) Dorweiler; grandchildren, David (Sara), Bobby, Justin, Brandon, Nathan (Ashley), Phillip (Tammy), Samarah (Zeb), Tim (Samantha), Blake, Luke; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Adalyn, Cael, Colton, Henry, Jace, William, Jemma, Chloe, Gianna, Liam, Logan; siblings, John (Gloria) Anderson, Joanne Anderson; sister-in-law, Lois Anderson; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Janet is preceded in death by her husband David Mikkelson; parents, Robert and Olga Anderson; brother Robert Anderson.
