Janet Ann (Bowen) Israel, of Prior Lake, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the age of 70. She will be missed by all who loved her.
A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 4:30 – 6:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant Street SE) in Prior Lake.
On May 12, 1956, Janet Ann Bowen was born to parents, Harlan & Lois (Gruber) Bowen. She loved growing up in Mankato with her parents and two siblings, Sue & Jim. As a girl, Janet developed a great sense of humor. She avoided gym class at any cost but still managed to graduate from Mankato High School. Following graduation, she attended Mankato State University and became an accountant.
It was while working at Frontier that Janet met the love of her life, Jack Israel. The two were friends for many years and a love blossomed out of that friendship. They were married on June 6, 1997. Jack and Janet settled in Prior Lake and spent many happy years together in their home on Maves Trail. Janet also was so proud to be a stepmom to Jack’s nine children.
Together they enjoyed tending to their beautiful vegetable gardens and the trees on their property. They also spent lots of time walking their dogs, watching their favorite tv shows and fishing together. Jack was always trying to set up special gatherings for the family to get all the kids and grandkids together. Janet loved having the family together, especially during their annual family trip to Cass Lake. In their spare time, Jack played his tank video games, and Janet would knit and crochet.
Janet and Jack were the perfect match and complimented each other well – Jack was thoughtful and always allowed you to choose your own path even if it meant you’d make a mistake along the way. Janet was wonderfully sarcastic and was always ready to poke fun of you when you made those little mistakes.
On August 29, 2026, Janet passed away. She will be remembered for her kindness and wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor. Janet is survived by Jack’s children, Christopher (Sheri) Israel, Jennifer (Nate) Ries, Robert (Angelina) Israel, Jonathan (Jessie) Israel, William (Kara) Israel, Joshua Israel, Michael Israel, Jeremiah Israel, Thomas (Kelby) Israel; grandchildren, Courtney, Jacob, Chad, Trent, Lindsay, Emilie, Jackson, TJ, and Madeline; great-grandchildren, Paislee, Everlee; siblings, Sue (Greg) Klugherz, Jim Bowen; Other Loving Relatives and Many Dear Friends. She is preceded by her beloved husband, Jack Israel; parents, Harlan & Lois Bowen.
