Helen Irene Sieben, age 89, passed away peacefully in the presence of family at St. Gertrude’s Assisted Living on Sunday, June 15, 2025 as a result of health complications.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM with Visitation from 9:00 – 10:15 AM on Friday, June 27, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Savage (4625 W 125th St.). Father Ben Little will preside. Helen will be laid to rest at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Burnsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated to the Prior Lake VFW Women's Auxiliary in Helen's name. The Sieben family is grateful for all of your thoughts, prayers, and memorials. No thank you cards will be sent.
Helen was born April 2, 1936, to Charles and Blanche Johnson on a farm in Swanville, MN and graduated from Swanville school.
Helen met Don at Pillsbury dance hall, and they were married January 31, 1955. They were married for over 70 years. Helen was a full-time housewife and proud mother to 8 boys and also worked for the school district. She spent many years researching family history and publishing a book.
Helen was kind, sweet, and loved nothing more than spending time with her 8 boys, their families and her extended family. Helen had a sweet tooth and loved black licorice. She spent her free time quilting, sewing, volunteering for the women’s auxiliary at the Prior Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars, Savage American Legion, and Savage Knights of Columbus, serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St John’s, renting a cabin every summer on Long Lake, watching the Twins and attending any sporting event that involved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is loved and will be missed by her husband, Don; sons, Mark (Deb), Rich (Laurie), Warren (fiancé Terry), Kevin (Vicki), Scott (Julie), Nick (Amy), and Todd (girlfriend Pam); 16 grandkids; 17 great-grandkids; sister, Cookie Messerich; many nieces and nephews, and large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Blanche; son, Pete; and grandson, Dylan.
