Duane was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and outdoorsman. He was born October 10, 1962, in Waconia, MN, to Harold and Peggy Kriese, and grew up in Bloomington, MN. An active and adventurous child, he loved fishing, hunting, spending time with friends, and helping his grandmother on her farm with his brother Doug. He worked at Citywide Insulation for 45 years, where he was known for his dedication, loyalty, and strong work ethic.
Duane married Colleen Rene (Nelson) on August 24, 1991, and together they built 34 years of family and memories. They enjoyed traveling, dinners with friends, and time spent with their children: Duane Jr., Nicholas, and Kristine. Family was always his top priority, and he never missed an opportunity to support his kids.
Becoming a grandfather in 2019 brought Duane tremendous joy. He treasured every moment with his first granddaughter, Olivia—playing cards, sharing ice cream, and taking scooter rides to the park. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he embraced his role as “Grandpa” with pride and love.
Duane spent many weekends hunting and fishing, with fishing being his greatest passion. In the summers, he could be found competing in walleye tournaments. Being invited to fish with him was considered an honor by many. When he wasn’t with family, he was often enjoying the outdoors with friends.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, loving heart, diligence, loyalty, and the best hugs. His legacy lives on in the countless people whose lives he touched.
Duane is survived by his wife, Colleen Kriese; children, Nicholas Kriese (Christy), Kristine Schmit (Joey), and Duane Kriese Jr. (Amy); and grandchildren, Olivia Schmit, Oliver Schmit, Jaxon Kriese, and Harley Kriese. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Peggy Kriese and grandparents, Evelyn and Harold Swenson.
Any family or friends whishing to get in touch with Colleen can reach her on her cell phone: 612) 991-6720.
