Archie John Pavek

Archie John Pavek, age 89, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, after a courageous battle of cancer. A Celebration of Archie’s Life will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Prior Lake VFW.

Archie John Pavek was born on February 16, 1936, in New Prague, where he grew up actively involved on the family farm with his parents, William and Matilda (Novak) Pavek. He honorably served on active duty in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon returning from the Army, he moved to Prior Lake and became a dedicated member of the Prior Lake VFW Post 6208. He served as Post Commander from 1966 to 1967. He continued his commitment to the VFW by serving as District Commander from 1975 to 1976, Judge Advocate for the State of Minnesota from 1977 to 1978, and VFW State Commander from 1979 to 1980.

Archie was blessed with two daughters, with then wife Bernice, whom he cherished and generously spoiled. Archie enjoyed living on the lake and loved traveling with his young family in their motor home, exploring many places together. He loved to fish and play cards, but golfing was his passion. He also liked hosting barbeques and pig roasts, socializing, and entertaining friends and family. Professionally, Archie worked at Thermo King from 1959 to 1968 before establishing his own business, Prior Lake Machine, in 1968. During his time at Prior Lake Machine, he also founded Wind Turbine Industries (break off from Jacobs Wind). Archie ultimately retired at a young age in San Diego, California, where he continued to enjoy life and of course, golf!

Archie will be missed by his children, Deb (Riley) Smith of Siren, WI and Patty Pavek of Prior Lake; grandsons, Jason Kes and Andy Kes (Theresa Halicki); sister-in-law, Lorraine Pavek; and other loving family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Matilda (Novak) Pavek; brothers, Arnold (Marion) Pavek, Arnost Pavek, and Arthur (Caroline) Pavek.
