Anita L. “Toots” Tang, age 81, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026 at the Villages of Lonsdale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11 AM with Visitation from 9 – 10:45 AM, all at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16311 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake, MN. Father Tom Walker will preside. Urn bearers will be her beloved grandchildren, Justin Tang, Connor Tang, Nicholas Malz, and Elizabeth Malz. Anita will be laid to rest with her husband, Glenn at a private family service at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
Anita was born in Fargo, North Dakota on March 2, 1945, to Orville and Irene (née Anderson) Thorson. She was raised in Moorhead, MN, alongside her siblings, Gladyce, Joyce, and Orville. Following graduation, Anita married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Tang, on August 12, 1965, in Lake Park, MN. Glenn was then deployed to Germany for 2 years with the United States Army and upon returning from Germany, Glenn and Anita welcomed their three children, Michael, Michelle, and Debi and raised their family in Prior Lake, MN. As a family they enjoyed the outdoors, camping, taking road trips to see relatives in Fargo and Moorhead and exploring the sights to and from Billings, MT. They also loved spending time at the cabin whenever they could.
Anita was a caretaker at heart which showed through her work as a daycare provider, Certified Nursing Assistant at Friendship Manor, and most recently a cook at the Prior Lake VFW for over 30 years. She was also proud to serve as president of the Prior Lake VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and was a long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake.
Anita was especially dedicated to her family, never missing her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Her grandchildren will forever cherish the time she spent spoiling them by taking them out for pancakes and lunch, going to movies, and browsing the knick-knacks at the dollar store.
Anita will be forever missed by her children, Michael Tang, Michelle (Steve) Alexander, Debi (Jeff) Malz; grandchildren, Justin (Olivia) Tang, Connor Tang, Nicholas (Amanda) Malz, Elizabeth Malz, and great-grandson, Carston Tang; siblings, Joyce Clarin, and Orville (Annette) Thorson; siblings-in-law, Gary (Gaye) Tang, David Tang, and Debbie (Dave) Armstrong; and other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Anita was welcomed into heaven by her beloved husband, Glenn; parents, Orville and Irene; sister, Gladyce Nielson; daughter-in-law, Karen Tang; brother-in-law, Gary Clarin; sister-in-law, Rosie (Walter) Oberlander; and brother-in-law, Donald (Esther) Tang.
Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home and Cremation, Prior Lake Chapel, proudly served and cared for the Tang family.
