Myrtle’s life story

Myrtle Mathews

On March 31, 1920 in Belle Plaine Township, Myrtle Hilda was born to parents August and Ida (Kassnlin) Mueller. She married Clarence Carl Mathews on August 14, 1940 at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Prior Lake, MN. They were blessed with three daughters, Sharon, Mona and Clarissa.

An active member of St, Paul’s Lutheran Church, Myrtle enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church. In her spare time, she also made thousands of pot holders, which she treasured giving to many. Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and sister, with a huge giving heart.

On a snow morning of Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Valley Ridge in Burnsville, MN, Myrtle meet her Lord and Savior at the age of 93.

Deeply missed and remember always by those who loved Myrtle; daughters, Sharon (Philip) Christianson of Jordan, Mona (Al) Snell of Prior Lake; grandsons, Matthew (Jacqui) Christianson, Brandon Snell; brother, Wilmar “Vim” (Alice) Mueller of Prior Lake; other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Myrtle is preceded by her husband, Clarence; daughter, Clarissa Mathews; parents, August and Ida; siblings, William, Mabel, Ida, Reuben and Ella.

Pall bearers for Myrtle will be Joe Klingberg, Steve Mueller, Mike Hennen, Rick Kes, Bill Klingberg, Richard Kes, Allen Mills, Fred Ebel and Ron Mueller.

The visitation will be on Friday, April 19th, from 4-7 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the service at the church. The Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, April 20th at 11 am, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 5634 Luther Road, Prior Lake. Pastor John P. Vaughn will preside. Myrtle will be laid to rest at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Prior Lake.

The Mathews family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Prior Lake.
