Milda Emma (Brandt) Borchardt was born on February 8, 1927 in Spring Lake Township, to parents Raymond and Viola (Schultz) Brandt. She was the oldest of three children. Milda’s childhood years were spent on their farm in Spring Lake Township. That same farm is still in the family and operated by her brother, Willard and his family. Milda attended and graduated from Jordan High School.
Milda married Francis Borchardt on February 12, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shakopee. They were blessed with three children, Daniel, Duane and Mark.

She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time in her vegetable and flower garden. Milda was an active member of her church, serving on several committees. She was a member of the LWML (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) and a long time secretary for the AAL (Aid Association for Lutherans), currently Thrivent. She was extremely proud that she was able to donate all of the stained glass windows in the church in memory of her husband, Francis following his death.

She was known as a caring and active woman who had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. At the age of 85 and a resident of Prior Lake, Milda Borchardt entered God’s arms on the evening hours of Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home.

Forever loved, Milda will be deeply missed by her children, Daniel (Marilyn) Borchardt, Duane (Debbie) Borchardt, Mark (Robin) Borchardt, all of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Dan, Jr. (Kathy) Borchardt, Julie (Steve) Rassmussen, Mike Borchardt, Andrea Custodio, Matt Borchardt,
Michell (Scott) Innis, Kelvin Borchardt; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Arlene Schmidt of Prior Lake; brother, Willard (Gwen) Brandt of Prior Lake.

Milda was preceded in death by her husband, Francis and her parents, Raymond and Viola (Schultz) Brandt.

Pallbearers will be Dan, Jr. Borchardt, Mike Borchardt, Matt Borchardt, Kelvin Borchardt, Brian Brandt and Lyle Schmidt.

Visitation will be Sunday April, 22, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Prior Lake. Visitation will also be on Monday, April 23, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 am followed by the Celebration of Life Service, 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran on Fish Lake in Prior Lake. Reverend Robert Krueger will preside. Milda will be laid to rest next to her husband, Francis at the Fish Lake Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Milda’s memory by her family.
