Michael’s life story

Michael W. Doerr

On January 23, 1957 in San Diego, CA, Michael William was born and adopted by parents William and Patricia (Davis) Doerr. He was one of three children. Mike’s childhood years were spent in San Diego where he surfed, water-skied, rode motorcycles, went camping and hung out at the beach with his brother Lance and many close friends.

He graduated from Granite Hills High School in El Caion, California.

Mike was married for 10 years to Lynn Means. They had three children: Jessica, Jared and Jolene. He was a grandfather to Jessica’s daughter, McKenzie.

Mike met the love of his life, Corrin in Phoenix, Arizona and they have been together for 26 years. They were inseparable. The lived in Phoenix and San Diego before moving to Minnesota in the early 1990’s. Corrin and Mike had many adventures together – they loved to travel, camp, take bicycle and Harley rides, go boating, make trips to the casino, play cribbage and made countless trips to the cabin. Corrin and Mike were in a couple’s bowling league together.

Mike liked to fish, barbeque, watch NASCAR, Minnesota Vikings, NCIS, Super Natural and movies – he loved movies. He was an avid reader and an excellent gardener. Mike liked Frank’s hot sauce on everything, enjoyed most food and especially, cold FREE beer.

Mike loved music. He was a hippie at heart. Jerry Garcia, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet and Stevie Ray Vaughn were some of his favorites.

Mike was a talker. He could talk to anyone anywhere. He was a social butterfly. One could often hear his booming laugh from across the room. He also loved to debate philosophical views.

Most of Mike’s career was spent as the owner/operator of MD Stucco, Plaster and Dry Wall Service for more than 19 years in Minnesota. He was a member of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association.

Mike was a reliable, outgoing, funny guy whose friends and family adored him. He was always willing to assist others. His spirit and generosity will remain engraved in all that knew him. He was an Eagles member and former officer.

The morning of Wednesday, February 6, 2013, Mike, age 56, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Prior Lake.

Deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved Mike, life partner, Corrin Lee Kuntz: his three children, Jessica (Josh) Glascock, Jared Doerr and Jolene Doerr; grandchild, McKenzie; brother, Lance (Terry) Doerr; father-in-law, Christian (Marilyn) Kuntz Sr., sisters-in-law, Cynthia Kuntz, Camila Kuntz; brother-in-law, Christian (Julie) Kuntz Jr.; nieces and nephews, Adrianne (Alian)), Matt, Jonathan, Allison, Charlee, Christian Scott; and many other relatives and friends. Mike cats Misty, Molly and Mojo will miss snuggling up to him.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents and his dog Meisha.

The Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday, February 11 at 6 pm, with visitation from 4-6 pm, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake. Pastor Jack Heidenreich will preside.

The Doerr family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Prior Lake Chapel.
