Mary Dybevik, of Prior Lake, was born to eternal life on August 16, 2019 at the age of 74.

Mary will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 1:15 PM (Assembly Area #5).

A Memorial Service will be held in Mary’s honor on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Bethesda Church in Prior Lake (service details will be added soon).

On July 27, 1945, Howard & Maxine Silcox celebrated the birth of their daughter, Mary Susan Silcox. Mary loved growing up on the family farm in Dunnell, MN. She spent lots of time playing with her sister, Georgia, and her beloved farm cats. She also spent countless hours with her grandparents and developed strong family values from them.

After graduating from high school, Mary attended Cliff College in England where she earned her Associate Degree. Following her graduation, Mary began working as an executive secretary in the airline industry. She spent more than 20 years working for Republic, North Central, Northwest & Delta. Mary later worked for a local law office as a title examiner. Her final career was as a substitute librarian for the Scott County Library.

In the early 80’s, Bob Dybevik met the love of his life when he was introduced to Mary. Their love grew quickly, and they exchanged wedding vows at their home in Prior Lake on September 4, 1982. Mary not only gained a loving husband, but also his four children. Mary was a wonderful step-mom to Brent, Brad, Tracy & Jed. She always showed them love and acceptance. Soon Mary & Bob were celebrating the birth of their son Tim. Being a mother was Mary’s biggest joy in life. As a family they enjoyed going to the Science Museum and Antique Stores. They took family road trips and enjoyed visiting Grandma Dybevik in Austin and Grandma & Grandpa Silcox on the family farm in Dunnell. Mary also loved spending time with her sister, nieces, nephews and all of her extended family. She taught her children the importance of a loving family.

Mary was a woman of strong faith and was very active in her church. She served as a Deaconess at Bethesda Church. She also helped with prison ministry, youth groups and the church library. In everything she did, Mary demonstrated love and compassion. She constantly steered others toward God.

In her free time, Mary enjoyed crafting. She was a skilled scrapbooker and card maker. Mary also made beautiful jewelry. When she wasn’t crafting, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and animals. She was a lifelong cat enthusiast. She loved spending time surrounded by all the beautiful nature at their home.

A few months ago, Mary was diagnosed with bone cancer. Although her health declined quickly, she never lost her faith and was always in good spirits. She was a wonderful patient and received excellent care from Allina Hospice. Mary was able to die in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary will be remembered always by her husband, Robert “Bob” Dybevik; son, Tim (Paul) Dybevik; stepchildren, Brent (Sue) Dybevik, Brad Dybevik, Tracy (Tony) McNally, John “Jed” (Lisa) Dybevik; many grandkids & great-grandkids; other loving relatives and many dear friends. Mary was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Howard & Maxine Silcox; sister, Georgia (Bob) Angell; many beloved pets and special four-legged friends.
