Bunny Geis, age 76, of Jordan, MN, passed peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2020.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 10, at 11 am, with a time of gathering two-hours prior, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16400 Duluth Avenue SE, Prior Lake. Masks are required and social distancing maintained. Father Tom Walker will be presiding. Urn bearers will be Bunny’s three sisters, Carol, Lee, and Kris. She will be laid to rest at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Memorials will be distributed in her memory, by the family.

Margaret Elizabeth was born on August 16, 1944, in St Paul, MN, to Richard and Margaret (Campbell) Kokx. She was the third generation on her mother’s side to be name, Margaret. Yet, as a young child, her grandma gave her the nickname “Bunny”, because of her constant energy within her small stature. This name continued with Bunny for life. The oldest of seven children, she grew up in Excelsior and in Minneapolis, MN. Bunny cherished visiting her grandparent’s farm and partaking in the daily chores. Unbeknown, this interest of farming would come in handy someday.

Bunny met Vernon Geis through L.P.A. (Little People of America.) Their first date and kiss were at Bunny’s New Year’s Eve party and the rest became history. After marrying Vern on February 23, 1968, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Bunny moved from city living to the Jordan farm, with her two poodles. Bunny embraced country living and enjoyed raising all sorts of animals, growing flowers, and freezing and canning the summer harvest from their large vegetable garden. Bunny and Vern raised three children on this Jordan farm, Debbie, Kevin, and Ed. Bunny and Vern enjoyed traveling, including a special trip to Guatemala to bring home their adopted son, Edwin. As a family, they enjoyed going to the family’s lake home in Osakis.

After the kids moved out, Bunny took her talents of sewing to several companies. She especially enjoyed being a seamstress for the Society for the Blind. Bunny later took a position with St Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Shakopee, MN, as the Director of Activities. She loved interacting with the residents.

Between the children, grandchildren and animals, Bunny had a busy life. She and Vern had wonderful opportunities to travel with amazing friends and family to Hawaii, Vegas, Mexico, Florida, Arizona and Alaska, including several roads trip and bus tours covering the states coast to coast. Bunny deeply loved her wonderful son-in-law, Chuck, grandchildren, Britney (Jeff) and Amanda and adored her sweet great grandsons, Cooper and Tucker. Bunny and Vern were inseparable. For 52 years, they worked side by side and made every decision together. Bunny and Vern were also involved with L.P.A. attending conventions and serving on the board, throughout the years.

Bunny relished being surrounded by family, especially on Christmas Eve. She loved playing cards and stopping at garage sales. One with nature, Bunny and Vern turned acreage into a wildlife preserve, where she enjoyed watching the bird migration in the pond and walking outdoors.

A spirited personality, Bunny was loyal and had a great sense of humor. She was a strong, caring, and loving sister, wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma. Forever loved, Bunny will be sadly missed by husband, Vernon; children, Debbie (Chuck) Busch, Ed Geis; granddaughters, Britney (Jeff) Truitt, Amanda Busch; great grandsons, Cooper, Tucker; siblings, Victor (Jeanne) Kokx, Carol (Tom) Berger, Lee (Don) Ruotsinoja, Pete Kokx, TK (Laura) Kokx, Kris (Denny) Froemming; and many other relatives and friends. She is welcomed home in Heaven by son, Kevin (06/24/1997) and parents.

I’m so sorry to hear about sweet Bunny. She was a dear neighbor and Barney thought the world of Vern & Bunny. I have fond memories of a time many years ago when they and my folks came to Farmfest and had supper at my house in Redwood Falls. Bunny loved my antiques. You have my sympathy.

Eddie, Vernon and Debbie, ‘
We were so very sad to see that Bunny had passed away. Bunny shopped with us for years at Cub and Ed was an employee with many of us for a long time. We looked forward to see Bunny when she was in. She was feisty, funny and unstoppable. She never left the store without giving me a big hug. I have missed seeing her. Hugs to all in her memory. Jayne and the Cub gang.

Peace and love to the family… Barney introduced me to Bunny and Vern in the 80’s, shortly after I moved here from Ohio. Fond memories of gathering in her yard and kitchen! I remember once I found her dog running down Hi-way 13 (not realizing it was hers) until I got the pooch safely in my car and saw the phone number on the collar. Bunny was very appreciative and happy!!
