Lillian will be laid to rest at the Shakopee Catholic Cemetery. Mark Johnson, Tom Ziermann, John Ziermann, Paul Ziermann, Joe Ziermann and Ben Ziermann will act as pallbearers for their grandma.

It was a cold winter’s day in Deephaven on December 20, 1926 when August and Mary (Lorenz) Dvorak received an early Christmas gift, the birth of their beautiful daughter Lillian. She was the sixth of eight children, and she loved growing up on the family farm with her siblings. As a girl, Lillian worked hard on her parents’ dairy truck and berry farm. According to one of her siblings, Lillian was never very good at picking berries, so she had the job of providing tickets to the families who would come to their land to pick berries.

This is how she met the Jeurissen family. Years later, Lillian began dating one of the Jeurissen boys when she was a teenager. Their love quickly blossomed and they began their life together. Andrew and Lillian exchanged wedding vows in April of 1947. They moved to a farm in Shakopee and were blessed with five children, Mary, Char, Joyce, Gene and Joseph.

Lillian and Andrew spent many wonderful years together, but their family was soon struck with tragedy. Their infant son Joseph died and then Lillian lost her husband Andrew in 1965. These two losses effected Lillian deeply, but she was a strong woman and persevered. Lillian moved into town and raised her children as a single mother.

She was a wonderful mom and provided a good life for her kids. She instilled the importance of family and faith in each of her children. Lillian was an excellent cook, skilled baker and the ultimate caregiver. She was also a talented seamstress. She made clothing for herself and others. Lillian was able to turn this passion into a job while she worked at the V Store.

A few years later, Lillian met a wonderful man named Benedict Notermann. She once again fell in love. Lillian and Ben were married in August of 1973 and made many wonderful memories together until Ben passed away in 1995. One of the best times they had together was on a trip to Europe. They spent time in Germany and Austria and loved learning about Ben’s German heritage.

Throughout her life, Lillian was a member of Council of Christian Women, the Rosary Society, Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary and the Prayer Chain. When she wasn’t dedicating her time helping others she enjoyed attending dances, playing cards and spending time with her family. Lillian was a kind and compassionate woman. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and give you advice, because she was almost always right. Lillian had a determined spirit that served her well throughout her life until she was called by Jesus to come home.

She will be deeply missed and remembered always by her children, Mary Ziermann, Char (Robert Weierke) Jeurissen, Joyce Dack and Gene (Deborah) Jeurissen; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rita Dvorak, Rita Jeurissen and Georgia Smith; many nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and friends.

Lillian is preceded by her husbands, Andrew and Benedict; infant son, Joseph; parents, August and Mary; son-in-law, Myron Dack; siblings, Dorothy, Florence, Mary, David, Robert, Agnes and Frederick.

To Lillian, I have memories of Lillian she was a neighbor, and a friend to my mom. I remember her driving us to school, picking up Schwan’s Ice Cream, going with my dad to watch special programs on their TV. Hiding our truck at her house the day we got married so no one would decorate it. There is both sadness and happiness at times like these. Missing her but knowing she is at peace in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ .

Lillian was a friend and client of my Mom’s, Mary Lou Sinnen. I have wonderful memories of visiting with her throughout the years when she was in Mom’s chair having her hair done. What a beautiful person, inside and out. Always a smile to share with others. Condolences to her family as you celebrate her life and say goodbye.

So very sorry for your loss! I remember what a blessing she was to our neighborhood. I loved going and visiting as a young child. She was always so happy and that is what I will remember her by – her wonderful smile and love for us kids. Even though I hadn’t seen her for years, my memories of her are wonderful. Blessings to you all.
