Laurie Ann Theis, age 55, passed away peacefully in the presence of family, on Sunday morning, December 30, 2018, at her home in Jordan, MN, after a courageous fight with cancer.
Family and friends are welcome to come share stories and enjoy a light lunch on Sunday, January 20, from 1-4 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee, MN.
On April 10, 1963 at St Francis Hospital, in Shakopee, MN, Laurie was born to parents Harold Paul and Adella Frances (Mechtel) Schmitt. The fifth of eight children growing up in New Prague, MN, where she graduated in 1981. Laurie married David Theis on September 6,1986, at St Patrick Catholic Church. They settled their roots in Jordan raising two precious children, Melissa and Curt. Laurie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved to be outdoors, watching birds and woodworking.
Laurie was driven and dedicated to her family and friends. Now, here legacy and mission are left to be carried on by her beloved husband, Dave; children, Melissa (Durand Garcia) Theis, Curt Theis; siblings, Karen (Roger Howell) Wassather, Patricia Benson, Terri Lehman, Ken (Shelly Novak) Schmitt, Steve (Jennifer Clancy) Schmitt; other loving relatives and devoted friends.
There to welcome Laurie home are her parents, Harold and Adella; brothers, Ed Schmitt and Rick Schmitt.

Dave, Melissa and Curt: We were so shocked and sad to here the news about Laurie. She will truly be missed. She had such a great laugh! We pray you are surrounded by the love of family and friends. So so sorry Melissa and family. I never met your mom but I’m sure she must’ve been a good person by how you turned out. I know you will miss her terribly but she will always be with you in your heart. And someday we will all be united in Heaven. Be patient with yourself and lean on your family and friends. A lot of people love you.
