Keith Tellekson

Keith Tellekson, age 88, died peacefully at home in Prior Lake, MN on Monday, August 19, 2019.

Keith was born June 14, 1931 to Cecil and Margaret (Okdale) Tellekson. He graduated from St. Olaf college, where he met the love of his life, Betty Bergstrand. Keith served in the army for 2 years after college, before receiving his MBA from Northwestern University.

Keith and Betty were married in 1956 and raised 3 children, David, Kristin and Jane. Keith worked as a Human Resources Director for Honeywell in Minneapolis, MN, and Microswitch in Freeport, IL. The family enjoyed camping in Canada, skiing, road trips to visit family, and trips to the Bahamas. Keith was devastated when Betty died of cancer in 1976.

Keith later married Joy Thomas and they moved to Minneapolis in 1979, where Keith later retired from Honeywell after 33 years of service. Keith and Joy enjoyed boating on Lake Minnetonka (in Keith’s pride and joy, a wooden Skiffcraft boat), playing golf, fishing and spending winters in Mesa, AZ. Keith was Joy’s caretaker for many years as she struggled with the effects of Parkinson’s disease. He was an amazing caregiver. Joy died in 2014.

Keith loved life and his family. He remained an avid reader, crossword puzzle, Packer fan, Twins fan, traveler and all-around kind, funny, loving, & amazing person.

Keith will be forever loved and missed by his children, David (Rebecca) Tellekson, Kristin (Dave) Murawski, Jane (Rob) Juten; Joy’s children, Bill (Debbie) Thomas, Terri Brintlinger, JoLynn (Jeff) Wagner; grandchildren, Sarah Tellekson, Alex (McKenzie) Tellekson, Molly Tellekson, Allison Murawski, Peter Juten, Jonathan Juten, Ben (Katie) Brintlinger, Matt (Lauren) Brintlinger, Jay (April) Wagner, Jack Wagner; 8 great -grandchildren; brother, Wayne Tellekson; sisters, Mary (David) Nelson, Kay Tellekson; other loving family and friends.

Keith is proceeded in death by wives, Betty Tellekson, Joy Tellekson; son-in-law Todd Brintlinger; parents, and sister-in-law, Sindy Tellekson.

Condolence Messages

  1. Please celebrate the life of a wonderful person and only be sad that there are not more men like him. Mr. Tellekson was such a kind and thoughtful person. I truly did not know him as deeply as I wished, but how he touched me was priceless. One of the reasons I attended St Olaf College in Minnesota was from him telling me of glowing stories of his years there. It was one of the two best decisions I made in my life, because of him. He was always available by phone for career counseling after that. I recall how he would share comments of what made him most happy and proud. Those were always about his Childern, and my friend, David, and Kirsten and Jane. My sincere condolences to them. Mr. Tellekson was a blessing.
