Juliana Esther Mae Wolff, age 87, of Prior Lake, MN, formerly of Hibbing, MN, met Jesus on Tuesday evening, October 1, 2019.
A Celebration of Life honoring Julie will be on Saturday, October 12 at 12 (noon), with a visitation from 10:30-11:45 am at Friendship Church, 17741 Fairlawn Avenue, Prior Lake, MN. Pastor Clarence St. John and Pastor Mike McGee will preside, with grandchildren acting as pall bearers. Julie will be laid to rest at a private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
Julie was born on May 9, 1932, to Reggie and Esther (Braddon) Edlund at home on May Lake in Walker, MN. When she was very young, they moved to Duluth and finally settled in Proctor, MN. Music was always a very important part of her life. She learned to play the piano at a very early age, bringing her musical talents to the Proctor High School Band, playing the glockenspiel, and ultimately marching in the Rose Bowl Parade. These talents blessed many others as she played and accompanied vocalists on the piano and later the organ.
During high school, Julie met the love of her life and future husband, Wally, while riding on the school bus. They were married on July 28, 1951. Their family grew in size and multiplied in joy with the birth of Tim in 1953 and Dan in 1956. That same year, they moved to Hibbing and in 1958 were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Becky.
Julie was an excellent cook and almost always had a gang to feed, but her rhubarb pies were her specialty. She was a talented seamstress, making many of her own dresses and formal gowns. Even though she was a busy mom with 3 kids, Julie still found time to be the Cherub Choir Director for many years and fill-in organist at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing. Most importantly and above all else was her faith in her Lord. In 1976, she opened up her Christian bookstore in Hibbing called John 10:10. Julie’s first store was on Howard Street in Hibbing and when it outgrew that location, she moved it to the Irongate Mall.
Julie and Wally loved to travel, and they combined their faith with that travel. In 1974 they started going to Mexico, where they became involved in mission work. Julie and Wally became friends with many of the local people, including those working in orphanages. In 1992, they took a 108-day around the world cruise. Julie and Wally continued to travel, explore and experience life, spending many winters at their home in Mexico and then Mission, TX, but their hearts will always be at the home they built on Sand Lake, south of Hibbing, where many memories were made.
The legacy of Julie will now live on in the hearts of those she loved most, husband, Wally; children, Tim (Cheryl) Wolff, Dan (Vicki) Wolff, Becky (Dave) Lucas; grandchildren, Joby (Marie Paulisich) Wolff, Beth (Brad) Hyduke, Jaimie (Chris) Olson, Katie (Mike) Dutchin, Taylor (Courtney Svaleson) Wolff, Maria Jaynes, Alex Wolff, Bryan (Angie) Wolff, Josh (Stacy) Lucas, Sarah Lucas; great-grandchildren, Gradey, Rohrey, Tyler, Allie, Ryleigh, Monica, Harvey, Arianna, Bella, Gabby, Elena, Ben, Chase, Kate, and many relatives and friends.
Julie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Reggie and Esther Edlund and her beloved parents-in-law, Wally and Eva Wolff, and after Eva’s death, Gloria Wolff.
Special note about getting to the Celebration of Life Service in Prior Lake. There is a great deal of road construction, including road closures, currently taking place in the Prior Lake area. Please use online navigation to get the most up to date information on these closures and to plan your best route to Friendship Church.
