Juan M. Serrato, age 43 of Savage, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 while surrounded by his family. A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11AM with a visitation 1-hour prior at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake.
Due to road construction on Pleasant Avenue, please park in the parking lot located behind the funeral home.
Juan will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery-Marystown, Shakopee.
On November 1, 1978 in Mexico, parents Guadalupe and Gloria (Sandoval) Serrato celebrated the birth of their only son, Juan. From a young age, Juan valued his family above all else. He was especially close with his mother Gloria and spent his formative years caring for her while she was in the hospital.
Juan eventually moved to Minnesota where a new chapter of his life began. While out with friends, Juan noticed a young woman, Lynn Majiwa, celebrating her 21st birthday. He approached her and they danced the night away. This was just the beginning of the best years of Juan’s life.
Juan’s definition of family was all encompassing—he was not only a proud husband and father, but an amazing uncle. Juan greatly anticipated becoming a great-uncle with the family’s newest addition. As a family, they enjoyed time on Prior Lake, grilling, fishing, and making memories together. Juan also loved cheering on the Las Vegas Raiders and playing video games with his sons.
Juan was proud of his accomplishments. For sixteen years, Juan was a manager at Walcro flooring. While he had a humble beginning and faced obstacles in life, Juan was passionate and hardworking. He constantly strived to improve and wanted the best for everyone else.
A generous and dedicated man, Juan is missed by his wife, Lynn and their sons, Alejandro and Christian; father, Guadalupe; sister, Marina (Fernando) Vasquez; nieces and nephews, Fernando, Daniel, Tyler, Olivia; many other loving relatives and friends.
Juan is reunited in Heaven with his mother, Gloria.

This hit really hard…. Juan was such an amazing person, coworker, dad and family man. We spent a ton of time together working at Walcro and he always had such a great sense of humor. He was like a big brother. I am going to miss our random check in text and his smart comments when I send him pics from the Raiders bar in Vegas. I loved to hear his stories about what the boys are up to and what is going on in his family. He was always so proud of his family. Juan will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My deepest sympathies go out to the Serrato
family and also to all of Juan’s friends and Team
members at Walcro.
I have known Juan for almost the entire 16 years
he was at Walcro. Juan was honest, straightforward,
knowledgeable, professional and always looked out
for the best interest of Walcro. I know he loved
his family deeply because we discussed our
families many times, whether on the phone or
in his office.
Being in the Flooring Industry for over 30 years, I
have met a ton of people and without a doubt
Juan was one of my Favorites. Fortunately, I told
him just that, the last time I saw him in February.
He just gave me a big smile and looked at me
like “Aw, sure Jim”. I meant it. I will miss him.
Again, my condolences to the Serrato Family!

Thank you Jim. He spoke very highly of you as well. Juan had a way with words. In my experience, he made you feel like you were the most important person in a room full of people. Yes…he was absolutely honest…sometimes too honest. I will miss him forever. I can’t thank God enough for giving me 22 amazing years with his angel. The boys are honored to have been able to call him dad. I am glad you got to meet him.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Serato family.
