John “Spike” Krautkremer, of Jordan, passed away the evening of January 11, 2018 at the age of 53. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (104 First Street West) in Jordan. Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation one-hour prior at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (313 E 2nd Street) in Jordan. Father Timothy Yanta will preside, and John will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan.

On December 5, 1964, John Glenn Krautkremer was born to parents Glenn and Berney Krautkremer. John was their only son. He loved growing up in Jordan with his sisters, Shelly and Lori. As a boy, John loved spending time at his grandparents’ farm. He was his grandpa’s little shadow and helped care for the cows, pigs and chickens. John also enjoyed fishing up at his grandpa’s cabin in Hackensack.

It was in high school that John discovered his love for cars. He began riding dirt bikes, fixing cars and Endoro racing. After graduating from Jordan High School in 1983, John attended Hennepin Vo-Tech where he studied to be an auto mechanic. He then started working at Crockett’s repair shop. He loved his job and loved working on cars. This is where John earned his nickname, Spike. After ten years at the shop, John began working for Radermacher Trucking. He was a very hard worker and soon became their lead truck driver. In October, John celebrated 20 years with Radermacher’s.

As a young man, John got the best job he ever had when he became a dad for the first time when Austin was born. John loved showing Austin the ropes at the garage and always had a freezy waiting for him. When Austin was in third grade, John was a chaperone on a field trip to Cedar Lake Farms. It was there that John met the love of his life, Doni. She was also chaperoning for her son Marshall. For their first date, John took Doni to the Demo Derby at the Scott County Fair and the rest was history. They enjoyed spending time together at their home. Although John was a homebody, he’d always take Doni out to Applebee’s for date night.

John and Doni soon welcomed their son Nicholas into the world. John loved having another son. John especially loved teaching Nicholas all about baseball. John and Doni even took him down to Florida to watch the Twins spring training. John made it to all of his boys’ events. He was always in the stands cheering them on.

In his free time, John enjoyed deer hunting, fishing at the family cabin, playing mini golf, watching TV and he also had a love for ice cream. Some of his favorite shows were Judge Judy and Fox News. John also enjoyed hunting for a bargain. He loved shopping at Fleet Farm and Menards, but his favorites were thrift stores, trading posts and auctions. Although John had many hobbies and interests, the most important thing in his life was his family. He loved his family so much!

John was an all-around great guy who touched the lives of everyone that knew him. He was always looking out for others and was right there to lend a helping hand. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Berney; partner, Doni; sons, Austin (and his mother, Belita Lom), Nicholas and Marshall; sisters, Shelly and Lori (Rob); nephew, Jonathan; niece-in-law, Stephanie; great-nephew, Dominic; dogs, Shadow and Dusty; other loving relatives and many dear friends. John was preceded in death by his father, Glenn; nephew, Travis, grandparents and Doni’s mother, Mary.

Shorty Affolter and Family.

It is a really sad day when we lose a young man with so many gifts and so much
love to give us all.John was a fine young man, about my son’s age,and I knew him
since high school.I know how much he loved Doni, his mother Bernie, the boys
Austin and Nicholas and all of the rest of the family.John left us all so many good
memories about himself and who he was.A great son,a great partner for Doni,a
great father to the boys, and just a great friend to all who knew him.He will be
sadly missed by a lot of people, but all who knew him are left with some great
memories of a fine young man.Wish there were more words that I could say that
could make this easier on all who are hurting and missing John. But I’m sure that
he’s up in heaven, sitting in the stands, waiting for the first pitch to open the base
ball season. We are here for any of you that need anything, but mostly we’re
Praying for all of you.For peace, compassion and many wonderful memories of
John and the great way he lived his life.Shorty Trudy and family.
