WEB John Demskie

John Michael Demskie, age 48 of Miami, formerly of Prior Lake passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016. A time of gathering will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 9:30-11AM with a memorial mass at 11AM all at St. Michael Catholic Church, 16311 Duluth Ave. SE, Prior Lake. Urn bearers will be John’s nieces and nephews—Alec, Olivia, Adam, and Joshua. John will be laid to rest by his grandmother at Lebanon Cemetery in New London, Minnesota. Father Tom Walker will preside.

On November 28, 1967 in Kingston, New York, Walter and Lue (Johnson) Demskie welcomed their son, John Michael Demskie, into the world. He was the second of three children. Early on in John’s childhood, his family relocated to Minneapolis and eventually to St. Cloud. The family enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending time together. John and his siblings were fortunate to live near his grandparents and enjoyed many special visits with them on weekends.

From a young age, John displayed an insatiable interest in understanding the mechanics of technology and electronics. This curiosity fueled his passions throughout life. Growing up, he would tinker with various electronics. His bedroom resembled an electrical lab—disassembled adding machines, radios, and like were scattered about. While he could always take something apart, John was never very interested in putting it back together.

John’s mechanical skills, along with his mischievous antics, resulted in some projects gone awry. When his grandfather gave him an old lawn mower, John transformed it into a flame thrower and burned the family’s lawn. Another time John’s parents returned home to find the home’s fuses blown after John directly wired a stereo into the wall. Over the years, John’s skills progressed and his projects became less perilous.

Following his graduation from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1986, John decided to further his education. He attended St. Cloud State for a year before transferring to the University of Minnesota. During his last semester of college, John turned his attention to the idea of owning a business. He began buying textbooks and educating himself. By 1992 John’s company, Remote Technology Inc., was up and running. With each passing year, his business grew to what it is today. His family always supported him and the business. John’s sister, Stacy, was happy to work alongside him as his office manager.

As his business began to flourish, John started taking time for himself. He enjoyed cruising in his corvette, golfing, deep-sea fishing, and cheering on the Vikings. Always up for an adventure, John would go skydiving with his cousin Cory. Every Fourth of July, John would host a family get together where they enjoyed good food, fireworks, and one another’s company. John’s family meant the world to him. He was a big-hearted man, especially when it came to his family. His nieces and nephews were especially spoiled by their uncle!

John was a driven individual who cared immensely for his family and friends. His generosity and passion for life will never be forgotten by his mother, Lue Demskie; brother, Mike (Kandy) Demskie; sister, Stacy (Scott) Olson; nieces and nephews, Alec Demskie, Olivia Demskie, Adam Olson, Joshua Olson; and his other loving relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by his father, Walter Demskie, and grandparents, John (Opal) Johnson and Walter (Marion) Demskie.

The Demskie family is proudly served by the staff of Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Dear Lue, Michael & family, Stacy and family,
We were privileged to see and visit with John at Opal’s Memorial service. He had a warmth about him and a great sense of humor. It was obvious he loved you all very much. I remember him as a child at a family gathering at Duane and Eunice’s home in New London – a sweet, fun loving boy. What a blessing his time on this earth was to everyone! God rest his soul.
Love,
The Bud & Helen Johnson family
