A Time of Gathering to celebrate John will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM with closing prayers at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant St SE, Prior Lake, MN. John will be laid to rest at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Prior Lake, MN.
John was born on September 29, 1962 to Lawrence “Bill” and Germaine (Boehmer) Ryan in Shakopee, MN. The youngest of four brothers, John grew up in Prior Lake and stayed for the most of his life! He loved to run track and play hockey when he was young and graduated from Prior Lake High School in 1981. After graduating, he began his long career as an auto body technician, working for Freeway Ford, Wally McCarthy Lyndahl, and Prior Lake Autobody. On the side, he loved building and selling custom fish houses.
Soon after graduation, John was married to his high school sweetheart, Dawn Johnson, and together, they were blessed with two children, Mandy and Tyler. Later in life, John and Dawn would go their separate ways.
John was a homebody and cherished his time working on his ten-acre hobby farm with his dog, Jake, by his side. He spent lots of time working in his pole shed, mowing his lawn, and grilling for his family and friends! John was a big supporter of the Twins and the Wild and tuned in to all the games he could on the radio or TV.
A kind-hearted man, John will be greatly missed by his children, Mandy (Bart) Niebuhr and Tyler (Mariana) Ryan; grandchildren, Mabel and Edith Niebuhr; step-grandchildren, Sophia, Henry “Hank”, and Emma Walters; siblings, Dave (Jill) Ryan and Dennis Ryan; and other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence “Bill” and Germaine Ryan; and brother, Thomas Ryan.

So sad to have John gone so young. My sympathy to the Ryan family. I was a grade ahead of John in high school and have good memories of seeing John and Dawn together. ❤️

My condolences to Dave and Dennis. John and I were best friends until we moved north in 1976. Our dads would switch taking us to Elko speedway a few times a summer and I’ll never forget that cool Schwin Stingray of his. Bombing around your yard on our snowmobiles was another favorite winter activity of ours.
RIP John
